Suggest a light, please.

OK, here is my problem:

I have a lovely mixte with a basket on the front. She is my commuter, but I am having fun making her as old-school Velo-chic classy as possible, while still retaining the essential commuter function.

So far, so good, but it is getting a bit darker every morning and I'm needing a front light. Is there a useful light that I could attach somehow to the front of the basket? Extra points if the body is white. I'm using an ordinary bike light that attaches to the bars, which is nice, but *ordinary*.

Is there something out there for me? Please?

Oh, and a pretty-sounding, beautiful bell would be nice, too.

What would like nice on there would be more like a dynamo style light (you can search google for dynamo light). Some of these can be powered by a 6 volt battery (water bottle style). Everything else seems to be pretty modern and designed to mount to the handlebars.

I agree with Radacrider. If you want a certain "look" then most ofmthe lights I could recommend look too utilitarian. I have a Nite Rider MiNewt 250 ( newer models are 350 & 600) and they are great from a function standpoint and the attachments easy on/off, but it likely does not have the look you like. You can do search to see what they look like. REI sells them.

I have never seen a light attached to a basket in a vintage bike, but the dynamo type (designed to attach at the base of the stem or the head tube) or even on the fender. See, for example:

The other option I have seen is a 'torpedo' style light attached to the front fender. That would require some handy work to drill the holes in your fenders. See the first one here:

What I would worry is about the quality of these lights -- are they waterproof and bright enough?

I have seen pretty battery lights from Liix:

They come in all kinds of colors and there are 2 different sizes too. I like that they look oldscool, but use LEDs and Batteries.
