I've posted several times about my quest for the perfect saddle, and I've found one that's great except that it chafes me raw even with gallons of chamois creme and similar products.

Well this morning I wake up for a 109 mile charity ride and it is COLD! (By Tucson standards anyway). It's easily the coldest weather I've ridden in. So I pull on a pair of running tights over my bike shorts. Lo and behold, no chafing! I guess the two layers of fabric can rub against each other instead of the one layer rubbing against my skin.

Makes me wonder if maybe your bike shorts are too loose?

lol. no, i don't think that's the problem. :o

the severe chafing problem is specific to this particular saddle. it has lots of embroidery/stitching and less padding than other saddles i've tried.

it's possible it wasn't the tights. i had switched the saddle out and then back on, so it's possible that it is in a slightly different spot than it was before the switch. but it's pretty unlikely, because it's the same guy at the lbs who switches my saddle every time, and he has the measurements written down.

if i have to wear two pairs of shorts but can ride a century+ with no saddle issues, i'll do it!
