Two friends and I did the Ulman Cancer Funds Half Full Tri today. Seriously one of my worst days on the bike. Many many years ago I had a cheerleading stunt gone awry :) and tore my hamstring right at the ischial tuberosity. It bothers me off and on but hasn't given me in any trouble in years. As soon as I sat on the bike, I was in pain. I thought - OK, it's cold, it will get better as I warm up. Well 32 miles later and I was still in pain. Hurt to sit, hit to pedal with much pressure. UGH. My poor runner was about 40-60 min later starting than I had hoped he'd be. Luckily both these guys are just there for the fun, the medal, the photo ops. No one is looking to win anything. But still, really disappointing.

Walking up to the transition area at 5:45 this morning I heard someone say - it looks more like a ski slope. Dang it was wet and cold. Which of course also got my asthma going. So now I'm in my jammies, in bed with my kitties, with a leg that isn't working so well, and coughing like the TB ward.

But my medal is quite nice. :)

Congrats to you for finishing under such adverse conditions!

Aren't relay triathlons FUN? A couple of years ago I did one as a relay with 2 friends. We got to experience all the fun and excitement of a triathlon without all that troublesome training and effort! ;) Seriously though, it was a hoot ad I would totally recommend it for anyone. Especially if you are every considering doing the whole thing. It's a great way to understand how the logistics of a triathlon work.

Congrats, Posse!!! Holy cow- you tore your hammy? OUCH- even if it was years ago. Sorry it was so tough for you, but you pushed and powered through that s**t. ;) (that's a saying my friend and I had put on a shirt after a homeless man shouted it to us as we were powering up a hill this summer).

Tri relays are fun, but I think going into the bike and run cold (without the swim or bike to warm you up) is hard. I did one relay and it was a blast, but I wished I'd had the swim to get me going before I jumped on the bike.

Great job!!!:D

Don't be so disappointed, Possegirl, you did a great job and hung in there to the finish. I hope you get to feeling better and heal up soon!!
