Just wondering how many days in a row do you exercise/workout? I pretty much do something fairly active everyday (bike, run, hike, etc). I always have the best intention to take a day off or an acitve recovery day to rest a little but then feel guilty and go do something that gets my HR up and my legs working. Maybe I should try to get back into some strength training..although I injured my shoulder a month ago and it still hurts a bit. I guess I am just addicted to cardio type of exercises. I guess it could be worse...I could be addicted to chocolate. Oh wait a minute:rolleyes:

Mon - Thursday I work out twice a day, unless I have an after school meeting. Some combination of weights, running, biking, swimming and yoga. Friday is off or just yoga. Saturday is run day; Sunday is ride day.

I do something 6 days a week. Most days it's two workouts (bike and swim, or swim and run or bike and run). Mondays are rest days.
Of course, after my Ironman in less than 2 weeks, they will ALL be rest days for about 2 weeks. :p
I vow to add in weights after the tri season ends in 2 weeks. I have slacked on the weights for about 3 years (and by slack, I mean not doing at all) and I need to work them back in.

Monday through Thursday, I work out twice a day...30 minutes in the morning and at least 30 minutes at night.

Weekends, I usually do a bike ride.

I usually do something every day, sometimes twice a day Monday thru Thursday (swim, bike, run). Friday is supposed to be a rest day but I've been going to kettlebell training on Friday mornings. Saturday is long run day and Sunday I do a long ride. I do take a day off every 10 days or so.

I don't do anything on Sundays, except maybe cruise up the street to get a pastry for breakfast, and then slowly ride home. The rest of Sunday is for doing what I rarely do during the week - clean, laundry, yard work, etc.

During the week it depends on the weather. I don't do much of that twice-a-day workout stuff, but I usually do SOMETHING after work unless it's storming pretty bad. Occasionally I'll ride before work if I can drag my butt out of bed and digest breakfast in time.

I'm car-free, I exercise every day just going about normal business. Biking to work, a friend's house, bank, grocery store...liquor store...

Even my work has a fair bit of running around and lifting stuff. I was not cut out for a desk job.

I bike half an hr. minimum each day to and from work in total. Peanuts compared to what I used to do when I lived in other cities.

Weekend days it's triple or quadruple the daily distance.

I'm also car-free but still I'm not exercising enough.

Yeah...me too. I am a therapist so I am always on my feet and moving people around in their w/c working with them using their walker. :-)

Thanks for the replies. I may try to start taking a rest day. I would love to do 2 a day workouts but I don't think I can get out of bed any earlier then I do now. ( I get up by 5 am and ride my bike a short distance into work) Although tehcnically I guess I do do 2 days sometimes because after work I will run or bike and then after dinner I will do something else light. Thanks again for your replies. It is always nice to see what others do to get ideas.:D

well, if you're looking for ideas I would suggest getting DDR. I do like that game, but I think I've beaten as many songs as I'm going too.

I do something 5-6 days a week, but probably not as much as some of you. One of those days is yoga or a walk. It depends on the season what the other days are. In prime cycling season, I usually do one long ride, sometimes two (+30 miles) and a couple of shorter rides. Sometimes I hike. I've been sporadically lifting weights/doing core work 2X a week for awhile. Just some upper body stuff and abs. I've also been doing a couple of short (10-18 mile) rides in the very early AM, like 5-5:30, before work.
In the fall and spring, I do more short rides, hiking, and sometimes I run. Winter, I x country ski, snow shoe, use the trainer, and do the weights. I still am thinking I'll join a gym this fall... but I am used to working out at home now, not sure if I want to spend the $.

I exercise 5-6 days a week. I've done active things every day before, but I found on my "rest" days I was taking the kids for bike rides (towing over 100lbs). Even if we only rode 3 miles, it was a major toll on my muscles after my hard training I've done during the week.

I make sure to have 1 full rest day. I may play outside with the kids, walk to the park, clean the house top-to-bottom--but it's all low-resistance, mildly aerobic. What I would call "active-rest." And sometimes I soak in the tub, read a book, and take a nap ;)

My general workout schedule looks something like this (Keep in mind I miss an average of 2-3 workouts a week because of kids, work, etc.):
Monday: Easy run, 30-40 minutes & Strength training
Tuesday: Bike Intervals 90-120 minutes & easy run (done at least 5 hours after intervals are completed)
Wednesday: 90 minute road ride, moderate/easy & Strength training
Thursday: Trail Run, 60-90 minutes
Friday: 2-3 hours Hard mountain bike or gravel road ride
Saturday: Rest (hang out with my kids all day :D:D:D:D)
Sunday: Easy 2 hour ride on the bike path (no hills, easy spin, HR at 110)

. . . I am currently training for a mountain bike race so this is a "peak" training schedule.

I exercise generally 5 days a week, sometimes 6. Two of those days are strength training - sometimes I ride both of those days but generally I only ride one of those two days. My trainer hits me pretty hard during our sessions...

I ride 4-5 days a week weather permitting, though the mileage can differ greatly on a weekly basis depending on how many of those days are mountain biking...it is pretty dynamic but I try spend at least the same number of hours in the saddle a week - generally between 10-13 hours depending on weather/schedule/etc,

3 - 4 days a week of riding:

- I do a 1 1/2 hour cycle computrainer class 2 times a week during the week and that's really all the riding I can do weekdays because of my work and family life.

- weekends usually one long ride (50 - 200 miles) on Saturday and often a 20 - 40 miler with my daughter, recovery pace, Sunday. More often than not, I will just do the one ride on Saturday and nothing Sunday.

I just bought some new trail running shoes, so I am going to try to get some short hikes in with the dogs on the days I don't ride.

I exercise in some way, shape or form...every single day. Sat, Sun, & Mon are my designated riding days where I will ride anywhere from 60-100 miles per day. Tues - Fri are my gym workout days where I do a combination of cardio (running, elliptical, stair machine, bike, etc), weights, ab/core work, and stretching. Once the snow starts flyin' here, I will likely be forced into the gym 7 days a week...until the spring. I will, on occasion, go for a jog/walk outside during the winter if the streets are clear and dry and the temps aren't below freezing...same goes for riding.

I am lucky enough to get PAID to workout! I am a fitness instructor/Beachbody coach. I teach every weekday at 5:15 am. I also teach on MOnday and Thursday evenings at 4:30 pm. During the winter I teach a 7:15am class on Saturdays. So, that is 8 hours a week I get paid to exercise!

I do 3 strength training classes, 1 ab/core class, and 4 cardio classes. We are getting Spinning soon and I am getting certified in that in October.

This summer I have really step up the biking. I try and do 1 long ride a week (anywhere from 44-55 miles) and 3 shorter ones (20 miles).

I really encourage you ladies to do some strength training. It is vitally important as we age and we lose bone density. You can prevent and even reverse this with weight bearing exercises! And, the more muscle mass you have on your body, the higher your metabolic rate. Which means you burn more calories, even when you are doing nothing, than a person with less muscle mass.

I train with weights and resistance 2 hours per week, 4 hours of cardio a week and ride or work on the indoor trainer 2 x week for a total of 6 days a week or 12-14 hours, but I nap for two hours almost every afternoon, and every now and then when it is a day of the living dead I take an extra day off.

According to my trainer, this puts me in the definitely over achiever scale for my 63 years of age. What can I say, it gives me a slight mental break from caring for blind, diabetic, asthmatic, 90 year old fil.

I worked out with my wife in a GYM for 1 hour per day. And we really enjoyed exercising every morning before going to work. We ride bicycle for almost 30 minutes per day, and obviously, we are biking at least 5 km per day. Really enjoyed it.

I do about 5 days a week. My workouts tend to be longer in the summer. On weeknights I will ride about 1.5-2 hours after work, I prefer mountain biking which is a higher intensity. Some evenings I may go to spin class which is 45 minutes. Weekends right now I am doing a long road ride (50 miles or so) and a long mountain bike ride (3-4 hours). The days are getting shorter but we have a night race series starting on the 27th, it is dirt but crit style on a motorcross track. I will do two races a night the C and B, C is 20 minutes and the B is 30. My fall race series starts up on October 2, the races are 1.5-2 hours. Then in December I switch focus to Marathon (40-50 mile races) so I will possibly have 3 rest days. It depends on how I am working my body how much rest I need, I am a big believer in listening to your body over all else.
