There is a video clip on the 'Net of my partner and I cycling.

But we didn't know we were being filmed. That's ok. It's on a public bike route in Vancouver. The clip exists as a file and must be downloaded.

It was shot in around 2004 or earlier.

Looks like a really enjoyable trail! It's a 4 minute ride and you only pedaled 5 times! A technical ride that looks like a lot of fun! Thanks for sharing.

That was a perfect song for that trail! The few times I've put music on my videos I've tried to find the perfect song. I may have actually succeeded on this video of me descending Donner Pass Road. It was recorded from the moonroof of my friend's Honda Ridgeline, so I added music since it was 100% wind noise.

Here's one from my helmet cam of a conversation mishap that happened when I caught up to a couple of cyclists on a climb.:D

I'm working on the video of today's climb. It was a tough one! I got a working ContourHD helmet cam, so this time I'll be able to show you the scenery I saw while climbing.

OK, here's today's climb up Slug Gulch Road in El Dorado County, CA. I measured lots of grades in the teens. As usual the Garmin went nuts and showed grades that don't even exist on paved roads, so I'm going to guess that the actual max grade on this climb was 16% or 17%.

This video has GPS data overlay so you can see the speed (inaccurate at times due to foliage interfering with satellite signals), heart rate, distance, altitude, and percent grade.

How close were you to the end/bottom at the end of the video? What was the climb like to the top or did you start at the top? Inquiring minds want to know

I try to find a new climb every week. Now I've just about covered all of El Dorado and Placer counties, but I'll dig a little deeper and see if I can find a new road for this weekend. ;)

The descent was bumpy in places, with some blind corners, so I couldn't go as fast as I wanted to. It was somewhat fun.

Is called ATT (Anderson) and is in San Diego's East County. We had to cut a good piece of the top and another good part of the bottom from the video as it was going to be quite long. For the video we climbed the same way as the descend, although there is a way to do a car shuttle we like climbing it :)

Ps. Just keep riding you MTB and you'll get the skills. Remember practice makes perfect ;)

While watching the video I noted that there seemed to be a good amount of growth between the trail and actual edge - I would find that comforting :) We certainly don't have trails with THIS kind of exposure in central Indiana, but am getting better at focusing on the trail itself and ignoring what isn't the trail.

At some point are you able to enjoy the scenery and still focus on the trail/obstacles? I assume the answer is yes

You do get better at looking around, but still need to keep the focus on the trail :) What does happen is that you start enjoying the trail more as you get more relaxed. One of the secrets is to look ahead, pick your line and not concentrate on the stuff that is already under your wheels.

I am working on this now  Body awareness seems to be my biggest challenge right now, but that will come with more practice...and my trainer has already changed my workouts after our ride this weekend.

Here's yesterday's climbs. I managed to find four roads in Folsom and El Dorado Hills that I haven't shown yet. I had to use the footage from the handlebar-mounted Kodak Playsport because of an incorrect angle on the Contour's helmet mount. It was too high and pointed to one side, which caused almost all the footage to be useless.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V8aAyAhb5Q

Here's the only footage from the Contour that was viewable. This is me living up to my username by climbing a 100% grade-of the artificial rock type. :p:D This was at the Folsom Cyclebration cycling expo in Folsom City Park.

I can finally post to this thread! I would never have expected this to be the first video of me riding, but here I am trying downhill for the first time (I'm the middle one):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_e_ZqqLf44

It was an absolute blast! 6 women friends, all beginners. My dh was there too with a bunch of his friends, all beginners there too. The video is pretty un-exciting, of an easy stretch, but it was all I could convince my dh to stop and get of us. He won the camera tug-of-war.

He says I look like I'm riding a million miles an hour all the time, I say it's because sooner or later I will be :D

@luv2climb, Even with the "slower bike" you are passing riders! At least you had a backup camera. I remember one time when we climbed this really long technical hill in order to film the downhill. But when we got to the bottom we noticed that the camera died at the begining of the video

@lph You do look fast ;) Were was this video made?

Ooh, that would be frustrating to find out you lost all your great footage! I started running two cameras ever since I got the Contour. I didn't trust it, especially the first one that ended up being defective and had to be exchanged. The current one works great, but the backup camera is still a good idea due to circumstances like the incorrect camera angle on Saturday's ride.

Yeah, that first climb I seemed to be going faster, over 10 mph on a 5% grade. The other climbs were more than twice as steep, so speeds were probably 4-5 mph.

lph, that looks like a fun downhill! I'd like to climb and descend that! :D

Well, I ride a Worksman Port-O-Trike around town, which is a little faster than most larger adult trikes. I may have been going 12-13 mph. I don't have a computer on that bike, so I'm just guessing at the speed.

I like that camera angle, especially with the spinning wheel. I also like the fact that it's raw footage. Most music on cycling videos is hit or miss. I end up muting more often than not. IMHO raw is the best because you can hear the gear shifting, other bike sounds, nature sounds, and people talking (and for climbing videos, the effort the rider is putting into the climb ;)).

:44 is what happens to me on a typical ride. :D Was that a "victory salute" he did at :47? If so, I hope he wasn't doing it to be a jerk.
