I normally detest reading news articles about politicians, but when I heard about this...it peaked my curiosity. I have to say that I'm pretty darn impressed with her 1:46:10 finishing time. That's like an 8min/mile pace. She finished 2nd in her age group (don't know how many were registered in her AG). I knew she was an avid runner, but I didn't realize that she was that fast. I've never even come close to running 13.1 miles, but I can guarantee that if I did...it would be at around an 11 min/mile pace....IF THAT. Good for her for being fit enough to run that pace.

There's a local marathon near me whose pace groups are based on celebrity finish times (http://grandrapidsmarathon.com/pace-teams/). One of these years I will do this race. :)

She probably visualized herself chasing some kind of big game animal down the street.

Funny bluebug. :D
I hope she sticks to jogging and not return to politics.

Runners World featured her in the "I'm a Runner" section on the last page a while back. Funny, I completely dislike her politically, but somehow that humanized her, made her just a little bit ok. (Weird how people get about political figures, I know.) Same thing when I found out that GWB rides mountain bikes, made me think, ok, there's *something* about this person I can relate to.
If only they'd stick to endurance sports. Perhaps SP needs to train for an Ironman. :D
