Or just a quote you like for a certain situation or day.

This was on our intranet this morning. I hadn't seen it before, but it was particularly apt on a boring grey Monday with autumn rain coming down in buckets:

“Summer ends, and Autumn comes, and he who would have it otherwise would have high tide always and a full moon every night”

- Hal Borland

That quote has helped me a lot, even righteous anger and indignation hurt us, it's hard to let go of at times.

I read this on the internet recently, it may have been here or Facebook, who knows . . .

"Whether you think you can or you think you can't--you're right."--Henry Ford (a fellow Michigander!)

DD has been driving me up a tree lately with the negative self-talk: "i can't do this, I can't do that . . . I'm a baby! I'm too little! I'm too weird!" Henry Ford's quote really struck me. I sat down with DD and had a little chat about negative and positive self-talk. And then I had her memorize this quote. And then I had her repeat some positive self-talk . . . hoping, hoping, hoping some of this sticks with her.

I think it will stick with her, but you may need to repeat it every day for several years!

Same thing but a little updated -

Holding onto anger is like peeing down your leg. You're the only one who feels it.

Sure wish my co-worker would get over the anger. Not much fun being on the other end of the stick! And yes, I think her socks are getting wet quite frequently too!

If it is to be, it's up to me. A much happier co-worker heard it somewhere.

When I end up feeling like I'm the brunt of somebody's bad vibes, I try to remember that it's about her/him - not about me. I just happen to be a handy target.

I snatched this from a friend's facebook wall today:

‎"In civilization we try to combat winter. We try to modify it so that we can continue to live the same sort of life that we live in summer. We plow the sidewalk so we can wear short shoes, and the roads so we can use cars. We heat every enclosed space and then, inadequately clad, dash quickly from one little pocket of hot air through a bitter no man’s land of cold to another. We fool around with sun lamps, trying to convince our skins that it is really August, and we eat travel-worn spinach in an attempt to sell the same idea to our stomachs. Naturally, it doesn’t work very well. You can neither remodel nor ignore such a big thing as winter."

Louise Dickinson Rich, We Took to the Woods, 1942

:D :D :D

so true!

“The earth is like a spaceship that didn't come with an operating manual” I like this quote very much and it’s not only funny but also true about our life.
I like that quote, what is the source?

Google says Buckminster Fuller, but I can't find any actual citations. I don't immediately see any debunking either though, which you do with a lot of common attributions. :p

I like the aphorism in your signature too, Dogmama.:D

Speaking of which...I'm getting mild hot flashes nearly every early morning for just a few min. --usually after I wake up but still lying in bed. I never get them when I'm out of bed..or maybe I don't notice them (since they are mild).
