This video made me cry. (in a good way)

I did not know that his mom was a flight attendant for United. The recordings of her phone messages to him while he was on United Flight 93 gave me chills. She knew what was happening and what would happen, but she stayed calm for her son.

Alice Hoagland is an amazing woman. I watched the video earlier today in tears of both sadness and joy.

Mark Bingham was once a student at the community college where I work. Also on Flight 93, we lost Nicole Miller, who had been currently enrolled in the fall of 2001.

There is a lovely memory garden in the center of campus under a large oak and surrounded by rosemary for remembrance. There are two benches, each with a small plaque. One for Mark, one for Nicole. It's a wonderfully peaceful place to sit and think, read, or escape for a little while. I've spent a lot of lunch hours there this summer as the tenth anniversary of this terrible day approaches. It seems like only yesterday.
