Camelbak new bladder

Does anyone else have a 2011 Camelbak with their new bladder? I love how easy it is to open! If you do have one, have you had problem with leaks?

I've been noticing what seemed like small leaks when riding, but was unsure if it was actually leaking or condensation and I always make certain that it is closed. My 40 mile road ride yesterday left no doubt in my mind, upon my return home I noted my jersey on my lower back and that same area on my bib shorts and lower were just soaked with water.

Even if the lid wasn't quite closed, and it was, giving my riding position that isn't where it would be leaking from. If it is leaking, I think it is leaking at the bottom, where the detachable tube attaches to the bladder.

I really like the pack itself, but it would be helpful to know if others have this problem. Just trying to decide if this is a design flaw or perhaps just a problem with this particular bladder. I am very careful about making certain everything is attached properly.

Is the pack new to you also, or just the bladder?

With any pack and any bladder my lower back winds up literally dripping. It's a combination of the condensation (especially if I've put ice in the bladder) and trapped sweat.

But if you've used this hardware before in similar weather and not gotten so wet, then I would suspect a leak. I had a Nathan bladder split along the seams once.

I purchased this in the spring, so neither are new and have been well used. I think I will make certain it is perfectly dry and conduct a few tests. I did have more ice in it than normal as it was so hot and humid yesterday morning. That might be all it is. It was also my longest road ride since July - my weekend rides in August were pretty much all on the mountain bike and while they were as long (time wise) or longer, of course I am not in the direct sun when riding in the woods.

The bottom of the pack is starting to look pretty bad from being wet so often, but I don't care about that. I really LIKE the pack, more than the bladder. I've given up on my small Camelbak, I just don't drink enough with that one and it causes nerve compression in my arm - which considering it is half the size of my other one is kind of odd. Obviously a different design...

I have the new Antidote Camelback bladder and love it. They finally came to the plate with a much better design.

If you have a problem, like I did with one of their steel water bottles, their customer service is amazing. Just contact the warrantee department.

All three of us (DH, kiddo and I) have Camelbaks with antidote bladders (we bought them prior to the Midwest Wmns clinic).

No issues with leaking.

I just tried everything I could think of to MAKE the bladder leak, and all I see is condensation. Granted, I didn't fill it all of the way, but if there were a leak it should have presented itself. There were a couple of drops, but it was obviously condensation.

I think it was as Oak said, a combination of serious condensation and trapped sweat.
