My kids new bike!

Picking up a 20" Specialized Hot Rock for DD in about an hour. Awesome Craigslist find! I am super-excited. She has really taken to trail-riding.

Awesome! In Texas we have kid's races for the new kids. Then when they are confident there is even a division for 6-8 year old, 10 and under, 12 and under. Do you have that up there?

Aghhh! DH said we have to wait to give it to her on her birthday (October) :eek:

There are some kids races at the bigger mntn bike races around here. Although, we usually get a sitter since DH and I are both racing and there is no one to watch the kids. She has shown an interest in racing, we may need to work something out for next season.

How old is she?

A friend of mine who races mountain bikes brought her 5 year old with her and the three of us went riding when I was camping during my recent vacation. It is humbling to get dropped by a 5 year old, and he certainly did. I was amazed to learn that he had first started learning how to mountain bike at age 4, pretty much as soon as he was on 2 wheels and it has taken him about a year to start finding his confidence.

She's 5 right now. I taught her to ride her bike without training wheels when she was 3. We just started trail riding this year. I think with DS we will skip the training wheels altogether.

I'm not sure I'd be able to wait til October, that's a whole summer gone! But I'm sure she'll love it when she does get it. And :D at Catrin being dropped by a 5 year old, I'm sure that will be my song too next year!
