ROFL - nah, makes me think since I can't ride like him - I just won't!
That is quite the journey tho - anyone see what make of bike he's on?? I would also love to know where he got all his spares from...along the route or carried? Would be an interesting read if he chooses to write a book about it.

Corsair -
I surfed over to Alastair Humphreys web site about his trip at http://www.roundtheworldbybike.com/ and found a sort of an answer to your question in his FAQs. Apparently he went through 3 bikes on his trip - quote from his answer to the question "What kit did you take?"
Bike- Two steel Rockhoppers which were great and finally a wonderful steel mountain bike with downhill rims (I was sick of breaking wheels) made by a company who wouldn't give me even a tiny discount so I childishly taped over their logos [dream bike though- Thorn Raven] I also loved his answer to the question "Did your bike break":
Like the old Russian joke- my bike is as good as new, except for 3 new frames, 5 new wheels, countless tyres, tubes, chains and gears…. A truly amazing journey. I think I need to spend some time reading his journal!
