I know there's been a lot of talk of aching sit bones and the like on here lately (myself included). I found a program that Competitive Cyclist runs where you pay $75 and they ship you 13 saddles to try for 7 days. This price includes shipping and returns. If you like the saddle, you are credited $35 toward the purchase of a new one. Has anyone here participated? Just wanted to make people aware that it's out there.

I just found another demo program online. One saddle at a time for $25, includes shipping and takes $20 off the price of the saddle if purchased. http://www.trisports.com/tri-before-you-buy-demo-saddle-program.html

The Trisports program looks like a better deal, if they offer a saddle you're interested in trying. The other one just says they send their best selling saddles, with no list of what that includes, so you could wind up with nothing that's wide enough for your sit bones.

I have done a trisports trial and they were great. I think the problem as already explained with competitive cyclist is they will send you a lot of narrow saddles. Perhaps you could call them and see if they have a women's specific trial I had heard of someone doing that.

Looks like Competitive Cyclist has the added not-benefit of giving you all of 7 days to try 13 saddles. 2 per day? A person would have to take a week of vacation to ride around the clock, and wouldn't have healed from the bad ones before trying the next one. You'd have to carefully select the most likely of the bunch, I guess. I've tried a bunch of saddles, and unless it's really really bad, 30 days is just barely enough for me.

Sorry if I sound pretty negative - it's probably the headache.

I emailed them for more info, so will pass this along once I hear back. I agree, 7 days is insane. I still have a saddle sore healing from a saddle I demoed three weeks ago.

i emailed Competitve Cyclist a week or so again bout this program and they no longer run it. However they do say that they have their 60 day no questions asked return policy... Weird. I wonder if you have an old link or I got a newbie or something.

For some reason it rings a bell that they had stopped the program sometime after we did it in 2009.
