Here we get suddenly drops in temperatures occasionally during summer where it can be lovely at 20 degrees C and then cloud over, pour rain and hail. Temperature falls to 4 degrees C (which is close to freezing).

I rode a home after work...only a 20 min. ride. Dearie was great enough to bring me a fleecy jacket and long rain pants because I didn't cycle with any earlier in morning.

Drizzling rain stopped 5 min. after I started off.

But during the time, my ears suddenly became quite painful. It scared me. It made me wonder if I got rain water in my ears and it wanted to nearly freeze...:( I absolutely had to cycle home to get warmer.

Oh how I wish for cold right now! I get ear pain from wind, doesn't matter the temperature.

I get ear pain from cold and wind... helpful to wear an ear cover. Here's mine (http://www.performancebike.com/bikes/Product_10052_10551_1018716_-1_51000_20000_51500).

I've seen ear covers that fit over the two helmet straps that go around your ear ... my LBS sells them. I can't remember if they were made out of fleece or neoprene. I've also seen knitted ones at one of our farmers markets. I haven't tried them, as my lungs cannot handle cold weather cycling anyway.

If it is pain on your outer ear (the part that sticks out in the air) then cover it with somthing to protect it from the cool air.

If you have pain in you middle or inner ear it may be from atmospheric pressure changes.
