My first ride on my clipless pedals went quite well - I picked the safest route - a bike path. I have Shimano PD-R520 pedals and Shimano WM61 shoes. I have my right pedals adjusted so it doesn't require as much force to release. I figured I'd do this, because my right ankle isn't 100%. Now for ride #2. :)

Great job, Nancy. I hope the second ride (and all subsequent ones) is as successful. I know clipless pedals aren't for everyone, but I sure like mine.

congrats! I had clipless ride #2 last night, 20 miles. I shaved 4 minutes off my previous time (I doubt because of the pedals but more because I took a week off to rest and my muscles are getting stronger!) AND the best part is my knee is being bothered less since switching to clipless from platforms.
1st ride in clipless there was a slight twinge in the knee but yesterday there was nothing. No icing needed either (which I had been doing almost every ride ranging from 10 - 40 miles)! So here's hoping that clipless is what helped my knee! :D
ETA: I also have mine set to the easiest setting. Though last night I felt they could be tighter.

Yippeeee! This is good news, glad to hear it went well! Ruby - glad to hear that it seems to help your knee, I have found that to be the case myself.

2nd ride went well too, except for the 105 degree heat index. I'm going to do my safe bike path ride - i.e. stay away from major intersections, until I become
a little more confident . Ruby, hope your knee issue is solved with the clipless pedals.
