Well my LBS just rang and said my new mountain bike has arrived. Unfortunately it would have to be the day when my husbands motorbike wouldnt start and he had to take the car. SO of course I cant get to our LBS for the next couple of days to get it set up etc. Oh well it wasnt suppose to arrive until end of Nov so I guess I shouldnt complain. I will post a picture once its at home safe and sound.

I have become friends with another mum from my boys school and she has just gotten her first mountain bike so we are going to do some rides together which will be great. I have never ridden my road bike with anyone so the company on my mountain bike rides will be great and safer too I guess.
My friend has started going on a weekly mountain bike ride run by the LBS and is enjoying it but its not on a day when my youngest is at preschool so no good for me. Im hoping she can pass any tips she learns from the other riders on to me but what I would really like is if you TE mountain biking ladies can offer any good advice or recommend any sites or books for virgin mountain bikers. :D

Trekhawk, where are you again? The Pioneer Trail should be a nice singletrack to start with. Do you know it? If not, I'll find you some links. Also, the Olmstead Loop and assorted singletrack in Cool (I know, not as close).

Good video that will cover the basics is Ned Overend's mtbike video you can order from Amazon. Does that man ever age? Hmm and Tinker. Geez.

You may know about these already, but here you go:

Nedly's video (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0966056922/qid=1131053911/sr=8-4/ref=pd_bbs_4/103-5158500-8944620?v=glance&s=video&n=507846). It might also be available on DVD.

SadieKate - thanks for the links. Im in Grass Valley so pretty close to a lot of these rides. Im so excited about getting out and giving it a whirl. I will have to practise up over winter and then maybe when it gets warmer we can organize a TE get together up here. We could ride and then indulge in some yummy food at one of the restaurants up here. :)

What's warm got to do with it? All I care about is dry trails and sun. You're above the freakin' fog! Jobob's got her freakin' forever hills and I have my freakin' fog. Everybody on this forum got to listen to me whine about it all last winter.

Is this your first winter in northern CA? Those of us on the valley floor will disappear from your view until we drive up the hill to bug you.

SK

PS - I'll just apologize to everyone ahead of time about the whining to come. Just call the whambulance now. :o

hey SadieKate - anytime you would like to visit feel free. Just let me practice a little so I dont disgrace myself or is it perhaps better to be really inexperienced and use that as a good excuse. :D

We arrived here Xmas Eve so we have experienced a little of winter. I know what you mean about the fog. We lived at Beale until we found a house and we couldnt believe how foggy it was. The realestate yarn for up here is above the fog below the snow. It snows a little but not dig out your car stuff at least it hasnt for a while so the locals say.

Well duh, you practice a whole lot and then tell her it was only your second time out! :p :D

Who me? Sneaky? ;)
