View Full Version : Hello everyone. I'm new to this.

Hello to all from Yasmin in Adelaide, Australia. I'm wrapped that there are so many keen female cyclists to share the joy (& pain) with.
I've been riding for about 7 years & travel about 300km/week. The love of my life is a Trek 2300 Alpha Aluminium road bike with Carbon forks & seat-post. This love is shared by a Trek 7200 Hybrid bike- she's a beauty 'cause she'll go anywhere (not as precious as the road bike. I hope she's not listening!). I've covered about 20,000km on the hybrid & 13,000 on the roadie.
Socially I ride with a team lovingly called "Lanterne Rouge". However, this is somewhat of a misnomer as we have an ex-olympic rower, runner & a couple of national title holders. There are 42 guys in the group (!) and 1 to 2 other women plus me.
I look forward to reading your stories & factual information.

Hi and welcome to the board! Sounds like you have a nice group to ride with which is great... really helps me with my motivation to ride with others who are stronger riders... and LOL at your hybrid not hearing that comment... I bought an old beat up mtn bike to use as my "beater" bike... to ride for coffee etc because if IT gets stolen, no big deal... BUT when I put it in the garage, I'm pretty sure I saw my road bike shudder in disgust... ;) :D

HI Yasmin
Another Aussie here but Im currently living in the USA for a couple of years with my husband's job. Im originally from Perth but lived in Adelaide for nearly ten years before moving to the East Coast. I love Adelaide and have very fond memories of my time there. Look forward to hearing some of your cycling adventures from SA.

Welcome to the board Yasmin! If you get a chance there's a thread under the open titled "getting to know you"......gives you a chance to learn more about us then is decent - and tell us some more about you! and yeah - I've got 4 bikes I pat on the seat at least once a day - just so they know I still love them all! ;)

PHEW!!! Good to see someone who could almost be my neighbour!!!! I'm over here in Perth, searching for the singletrack..

We're passing through Adelaide on our drive to melbourne at christmas time..i'll wave from the car...

Leslie :)Hi Leslie. How ya doin' in the States? I'm yet to experience the wonders first hand but would love to do so one day. Adelaide is just fabulous for cycling because there are kilometers of Esplanade & Hills. This week I've cycled 525km because our group is in training for the Audax Alpine Classic in Jan 06. How is the cycling where you are? Are the car drivers friendlier than the Adelaide ones (worst reputation in the nation)? Take care & chat soon. Yasmin.
