[FONT=Comic Sans MS][SIZE=3][COLOR=DarkRed]I just have to post this one. Like I stated in a thread before, I have been seriously riding for about 6 months and I now understand what it is to absolutely, positively love cycling. I am just about obsessed. I teach an aerobics class at my church which I do love but I find myself longing to get on my bike. I feel incomplete when I don't cycle. I love that the weather is getting cooler and love the feeling of the cold air. I'm not fast, average about 14 mph, but I have improved so much in the past 6 months. I just had to express this. There are maybe 4 people in my hometown who cycle (3 guys, one girl (me!!!) so I have no one to talk to about this. That's why I love this forum so much! You guys are great! I know I'm babbling, but.......... :p

yep, sounds like you got the bug baaaaaad! LOL... welcome to the club!
isn't it fun when you find a new passion that's so healthy and good for you too? I'm lucky where I live that there is a HUGE cycling community... I'm always getting passed by someone... :D
I've had friends tell me that I'm always smiling when they see me on the bike... yep, I guess I am! :)

Cool, it is always great to meet another female cyclist. It just seems that there are so few of us out riding. In fact the team/club that I am part of is four guys and I'm the only woman. So I have an idea what it feels like. Even when I go to a nearby city with a nice club the most women i've seen there are two besides me.
Almost 14 after six months isn't bad at all, just think keep at it and you'll be faster next year. You'll look back and think boy was I slow then. Oh and of course enjoy every moment on your bike. So glad to have you on board

I know how you feel. I have done a bunch of sports, mountain biking, long distance running, and the one thing I really, really enjoy is road biking. It seems like I get the most enjoyment and caloric deficit with the least perceived effort, as well as plenty of hours listening to my beloved Podcasts, and lots of nature viewing. Who would have guessed.
The ride that started it all, the Horrible Hundred, in Clermont, FL, is coming up in a couple weeks. I hope I have enough money to get a cool flamingo jersey to commemorate the ride that got me to love road biking instead of mountain biking.

Sounds like you are an addict! It's a fantastic addiction and one that I am never afraid to get too much of. I understand how it may feel kinda lonely when you are the only gal who rides because I am in the same predicament. It sounds like you are enjoying it nonetheless and glad to have someone on the board who is a fellow addict!!!

Hi Shaula,
I understand completely about the longing to get on a bike. I do many other outdoors activities but cycling is my first love.
I'm leaving tomorrow for a business trip and won't see my bike for two weeks. Running will be a poor substitute :(
I took off of work a bit early today to get one more ride in before it got dark. The weather was crisp and cold and the ride was just perfect. Sigh. That memory will have to hold me for two weeks....
