For our 100k this year we picked the ride that DH put together, the Pacific Rose. I figured it would be easier and shorter than the last one. The last time i did this ride it was icy and January. we barely finished in time.
I was pleased because there were going to be at least two people slower than me; one guy on a fixy and a woman who hasn't ridden in two years.
Well, the woman didn't show up. There was still Duane on his fixy. Trouble was, we all stayed together and he disappeared off the back, so I was dead last in the group most of the way. My legs were burning trying to keep up; and I never quite caught up with them unless there was a long red light or something. Then we turned around we were riding on a MUP and there was room for people to ride in 2's so I got behind the two strongest guys and stuck to them like a tick on a dog. . . it was EASY!! but then i'd fall off and i'd have to use all my might to get back to them. By the home stretch, i was fried. I rode the last 10 miles with the guy on the fixie and my DH who was very pleased with my speed.
We rode 65 miles and took breaks and still got done in 5.5 hours. The sun was out all day. And I wore my new wool Jersey!http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/263046_2089266223804_1009659155_32421564_5558297_n.jpg

Sounds like a hard but fun ride. I am struck by your long sleeves in July, what were the temps like. Glad to hear this was more fun than in January :D

Catrin, those are arm warmers (http://www.teamestrogen.com/search.ep?keyWords=arm+coolers&search-form-submit=go), they are cooling and protect from the sun. A lot of times when I felt really hot, I wanted to take them off, but then i put my fingers on the skin of my arm and that skin was cool in comparison!

Remember, in places where it doesn't get warm much, when it DOES get warm, we are not used to it!

You're a rock star! More than halfway to your goal! I know you put a lot of effort in, but you look relaxed and happy in your picture.

Mimi, you're my hero! I'm inspired to hear about your ride and how you stuck it out. Nice going. I like the photo too.

Yea Mimi! So proud that you completed your 7th ride! I am determined to restart my P12. Maybe this month or next. It's been a long recovery for me but I'm almost there (keeping my hopes up that I don't have a relapse).

Anyway while you were out enjoying your ride yesterday Joe and I were driving to Klamath Falls on Saturday with our daughter. Otherwise I would have joined you guys! Joe and I drove Jackie down and her boyfriend will pick her up in two weeks. On their back home Jackie and Brian will spend a long weekend in Cannon Beach. A nice way to celebrate the end of class! :) Jackie is taking a two week long class at O.I.T. The school district she works for is paying for the class. She is taking a new technology class which she will teach this fall to her 8th grade class. Engineering, robotics, CAD. My daughter is a science math teacher in a middle school. She teaches 8th graders. And she loves her job! Anyway we stopped at Crater Lake on our way down and WOW did they get a lot of snow this winter. It's still pretty snowy up there! We saw a few cyclists climbing up and two cyclists jumping into a snow bank to cool off. The views were phenomenal!

And I LOVE your new light weight wool Randonneur jersey! Where can I get one?

Jackie at Oregon Institute of Technology.

Happy Fourth of July! Joe and I got back last night and we are going out for a ride this morning . . . before the craziness begins!

Great job and great picture, Mimi!

(Don't tell Mr. Mimi, but I always think he's so cute in your pictures! I can't quite see, is he riding Katrina?)

Yes, Knott, he IS riding Katrina.
Susan, the jerseys are being sold by Joe Platzner. But I think they're all sold out.. Or close anyway. the last sizes that I knew were available are smaller ones, so there is hope.
It's really nice lightweight merino. I am rather indifferent to the color, but MAN, it's a nice jersey. You could wear it in any weather, hot or cold!
PS Susan, THAT SNOW!!!
