On Craigslist I found a Titanium LeMond bike, a 2002 Tete de Course frame that has recently been rebuilt. I'm going to go look at it in a few days and see what it feels like...pictures look great, of course, all shiny and clean and new components. The guy is asking $1500. Anyone have any input on LeMond bikes? Fair price??

Thanks

The fact that it's titanium is most of the price, as opposed to it being a lemond. If it fits and rides well, and has modern components on it, it's worth the $1500

My hubby rides a carbon Lemond (2007 Buenos Aires) with a mix of 105/Ultegra components. He loves his Lemond. I can't comment on titanium, though...as I have no knowledge about them.

DH test rode an '06 Tete de Course when he was bike shopping. It was ti, bonded with carbon - so not completely the same - but it had a beautiful ride.

I bought it! (well, committed to buying it next week after I get paid). I went and looked at it with my boyfriend, who thought it was very nice, and took it for a little ride. It felt even lighter than my Dolce, which I thought was a light little bike. I am looking forward to getting some road time on it and to have a choice of what to ride for the Marin Century! :)

ETA: here's a link to photos of it! https://picasaweb.google.com/NormanVu/2002LeMondTeteDeCourse?authkey=Gv1sRgCMyvsd6K1t3dew

Oooooooh, that is a looker!

MojoGrrl, just make certain it fits you by taking it for a longish test ride, if possible. Most of the people I've met who have been happy on a LeMond tend to have long torsos as compared to leg length.

It is the same frame you linked to, Muirenn, but obviously rebuilt with a lot of new components. I did take it for a ride and it fits great, and I'm paying $1500. My boyfriend looked it over and said it was definitely a fair price, considering everything is *brand new* on it - the guy just built it. I get to pick it up next week after I get paid...excited!

That's what I read when I was reading up on them on the internet. My torso isn't that long compared to my legs, but when I got fitted for my Specialized the guy at the bike shop said my dimensions were such that I could go with either a "women's" bike or a men's.
