Just back a few minutes ago from a 15-mile ride on my usual trails. I hadn't ridden since Monday, and was faster than usual tonight ("faster than usual" = "slightly faster than an under-caffeinated turtle"), zoom (sort of), zoom (sort of), zoom (sort of)!
Saw geese and deer, a rabbit and a beaver (woo-hoo!), and got a bug in my right eye that is one of those horribly acidic stinging bugs that make one stop immediately, rip the water bottle out and start dumping water frantically into one's eye. After I got in my car and was driving away (I have to drive to the trail...), I felt something biting my ear! It was a beetle of some sort. Yowch! He's still in the car.
I usually ride in bike shorts and cotton tee-shirts. Rode today in a Mt. Borah jersey that I got from TE during the recent sale (size: gargantuan). Very comfy shirt, but I have to say that cotton is more satisfying to pull up over one's face at the end of a ride so one can wipe all the sweat off one's face with one swipe. This jersey is too pretty to do that with. I'll have to start taking bandannas with me when I wear this. (Huh. Bandanna comes to English from Hindi. Didn't know that until right now.)
So a great ride, and life is good! (Unless you're the beetle in my car; then, probably life is not so great right now.)

Sounds like a lovely ride, Owlice.
I did an hour and a half up and down Mt. Sameol Sameol. Getting *so* tired of this route, but not tired enough to car up and head somewhere else. Thought about a group ride at 830 this am, but it was far outside the bubble, and leaving the bubble that early, well.
Can't complain too much. It's a very pretty route.

Yes, I road today and had a nice exploratory ride. I road a trail that has varied terrain and landscapes along the way to make it very interesting. I felt very strong today on my ride and took lots of photos along the way. Our weather was so much more biking friendly with much lower temps and less humidity. Tomorrow is supposed to be even better and I plan on a nice long (for me) ride tomorrow. I've included a couple of photos below and a photo apres ride.
There's a much longer story and more photos on my blog about today's ride.

Did the metric version of the Patuxent River Rural Legacy ride in southern Maryland. One of my favorite rides.

I rode to and from the Rocky Mountain Bicycle Festival.
First time on a bike since messing up my calf two weeks ago. Riding finally doesn't hurt, and feels much better than walking.

I rode to a coffee place that was open this evening (still daylight); took side roads and MUP to get there. Served nice Stumptown Roasters coffee (had a cappuccino) in a real ceramic mug. I think there and back was about 10 miles or so.

I planned on doing a ride but, took my car in for tires and ended up fixing a few more things and spending way more money than expected. I waited all day to to pick it up and the day was shot. I will ride Sunday.

I rode the 62 mile route of the Superman Bike Ride in Metropolis, Illinois yesterday. This is an annual ride the Kiwanis sponsor during the Superman celebration with 10, 35 and 62 mile routes along the Ohio River. It's a great ride that we try to do every year. It actually cooled off a little yesterday from the mid-ninety degree heat wave we've been having and was enjoyable.

I did a fast 40 mile ride with my students. I'm glad I rode with them because after a season of racing, they worked me hard! Subtracting stops, our average speed was about 16 mph (my 50 mile ride last week was an avg speed of 12 mph-- leisurely to say the least). The ride was funny though-- I didn't feel well the night before so I skipped dinner and then I ate breakfast just an hour before takeoff. It was like I was bonking before I'd even gotten started! No amount of oxygen could move me the speed I wanted to go. Once breakfast hit though, I was fine and I finished the ride feeling spectacular. I hung in with the kids til the end!
I thought I might ride another forty this morning, but my legs want more rest. Listening to the body! I bought well-go platforms for my mountain bike so James, the bf can ride with me in the park. He hasn't been on a bike since he was a kid!

Gah!! I completely forgot about that ride! I like that one, too. Did they keep Jug Bay as rest stop #2? Did you get rained on?
Yesterday (the 11th), I took a mtb clinic offered by a guy in my tri club. It was good and fun, although the "real" riding afterwards was a challenge.
Today was an easy aerobic ride solo thru the park - as opposed to my anaerobic efforts with the LBS group ride. Not in a mood - and I doubts it's good for training - to keep the HR pegged in the red zone for 30 miles.

Weather this morning was sketchy to start, but once we got going, the sun came out and was quite pleasant! I started out by meeting up with Owlie for a planned 20 mile ride. She had a flat at home and overcast skies almost made us bail.
Glad we didn't!!! I hadn't been riding much lately due to weather and work, so I warned Owlie I'd be slow. About 5-6 miles I she dropped me as I struggled to stay on her wheel... Plus my saddle was just killing me (new saddle/butt needs time in the saddle.) Sooooo .. Don't let her kid ya about the sails .. ;)
I turned around to get in 15 miles and let her go forward to get the full 20, figuring she'd catch my slow-poke butt on the way back, but I must have liked playing the chase rabbit as she didn't catch me!

I did the Fiesta Metric Century today. It was fun and I learned a few new routes I had not been on before.

My husband and I did a new metric century that was started here in our town. The weather was nice, but we had not been riding very much so I am very sore today. My legs feel like wet noodles:(

We did a hilly 60 mile JDRF training ride. It was really nice, aside from my friggin' asthmatic lungs. This Spring has been absolutely awful...the pollen is insane so my allergies have been in the red zone for weeks. I would have been a rockstar with strong lungs. But I'm already one of the stronger riders on the team, since I'm one of the few who rides on the trainer all Winter and braves the outdoors soon as the snow clears (with my new cyclocross bike I will be able to ride outdoors even more this coming winter...yay for studded tires!!!). So it worked-out OK. Everyone ended up pretty much on equal "footing." :)

Sat. I just did the usual hour-long market ride with DH. Today I did 32 miles at an easy pace. Had planned on 55+, but DH was having back spasms so only managed 14 miles before calling it quits, and although I enjoyed my ride, it was hot and sunny, we got a late start due to his back, so I just didn't have it in me to go much farther solo. Had a poor night of sleep also, so just didn't feel like pushing it...just one of those days, I guess!

:o You'll probably smoke me once you get that saddle sorted out, though. ;)

my ride on the 11th was same as the 12th. I biked down to my not-so-local bike shop to get some work done, then picked up my bike Sunday. Special thanks to my LBS for being so fast when I told them how important it was to get it Sunday! The weekend is the only time I can pickup, and I couldn't stand the thought of taking the bus to work for a week.
I was so proud of myself I even made a map to post to my bolg : /

As of today, I've only had my bike for a month. I know it's not an impressive ride for some....but it is for me.

DP and I did the MS-150 ride this weekend from Proctor (near Duluth) to White Bear Lake, MN. A bit of a headwind yesterday but I really, really cannot complain about conditions this year. Cool, partly cloudy and no rain all weekend - best MS-150 weather in years!

My ride on the 11th was the epitome of a "fun ride". :D I rode a couple "tall bikes" at the monthly Second Saturday art festival in Sacramento. These are homemade by one of my YouTube subscribers. I handed him my camera so he could record me getting on and riding these bikes. Check it out:

Yesterday was back to my other version of fun: 44.63 miles, 3,707 feet of climbing, and lots of heavy breathing! :D Read the rest of the ride report here:

By the way, your ride yesterday was 18--not 15--miles! I rode up to that point today and turned around...

I didn't ride on Sat. or Sunday... I rode 25 miles on Friday, then we went to the Cape, where it was either raining or so incredibly windy and cold, our bikes stayed in the car while we ate and drank wine. Then I came home and forced myself to get on the treadmill for 30 minutes.
Today I rode my hybrid to the opening of the farmer's market. I am not feeling that zippy today, with allergies and possibly my asthma still acting up, but I did the 17.1 miles round trip, all to buy strawberries and some rolls. Not as many booths this year, but maybe more will come.
Unless the market stays open until 6 or 7, I won't be going again...
