Beat by a 3i Townie!

Went with DH and DD for a ride today. DH has only ridden his Townie 3i a couple of times and not very far, maybe a mile or two round trip. This was ride three and was about 4 miles round trip. He's never even done a hill.

He made it up the mile long hill with me lagging behind on my Sirrus and went down another hill leaving me and my daughter in the dust. He wasn't even breathing hard when he got to the top of the mile hill.

How is it a 3-speed Townie can outride me when I've got 5 weeks of riding a couple of miles a day via a mountian bike and a week on my Sirrus?

Maybe I need a Townie despite how goofy they look...LOL!

I am really proud of him. He's out riding and loving his bike on weekends and it's wonderful having him go on a ride with me.

He probably has more leg muscle than you do. If this were the end of, say, a 20 mile ride, you would probably have been up the hill first, because your training would have you less fatigued at that point.
