Hi all,

I was wondering if any of you have any suggestions on how to get rid of helmet acne? After finally getting my skin clear after many years of battling with mild annoying acne (mostly stress and hormonally related), it's starting to come back since I moved and have been riding 20 miles or more pretty much daily in 100+ weather. It's kind of a problem since I already look young and my clients have to believe I am competent at my job.

Right now I am using Aveeno products - the daily brightening scrub and the skin clearing moisturizer. For the past few days I have been using salycylic acid pads on my face right before bed and it seems to be helping a little bit. I naturally have very oily skin.

Most of the acne is showing up on my forehead where my helmet line is, which is why I think it's related to that.

Thanks in advance!

I'd say in addition to washing your face, wipe down the inside of the helmet.

Washing the helmet pads is a good idea.

But it's also possible it's not acne at all. I get dyshidrosis in humid weather, which is a form of eczema (also very stress related). I particularly get it on my hands under gloves, and on my forehead under my helmet. It appears as little fluid-filled blisters on my hands, or tiny pimples on my forehead.

Keeping the area as dry as possible helps, and steroid creams as needed - but be careful with steroids on your face.
