Tomorrow I turn thirty six years old. Just about a year ago I bought my first bike after looking at my life and realizing I needed change.
Wow, I didn't know just how much change would find me in these twelve months.
Thirty pounds from my hips and back-side were cast aside and "lost" along the road somewhere.
I found a new job, that while a tad more stressful, is more responsibility and infinatly more rewarding then where I was before.
I rode my first five mile, ten mile, and even twenty mile rides.
Also rode my first group ride just a few short weeks ago. I felt limited (scared) of the road and stuck to bike paths, but have challenged myself and road six miles on busy city streets, while scanning the road for danger and staying out of the door zone, feeling more at ease with every mile!
Lastly, but most rewarding, I found these lovely women (and guy) for support and guidience along the way.
Thanks for perhaps the best year of my life,
Shannon

Happy Happy Birthday to you, Shannon. What a great post. I, too, am 35 and at a crossroads in my life. I've picked up my bike and hopefully the rest will fall into place. So glad to hear what a wonderful year you've had and wishing you many many more.

Happy Birthday, Shannon! I had a similar feeling when I turned 37 (the year after I started cycling). I remember having the same feeling--that I'd just had one of my better years, thanks to my bike and all the positive change it brought to my life. I hope you have many happy miles ahead of you this coming year.

Tomorrow I turn thirty six years old.
Shannon
I had a similar feeling when I turned 37 (the year after I started cycling).
That is interesting... I was 37 when I got my first road bike and re-found my love of riding a bike outside from childhood. Prior to that some things with my health had gotten to a point it was time for a change. Pedaling is a very positive change to make. Wonder how many other ladies we have that found cycling in their lives about this time, hmmm.
Shannon hope your birthday was a great one!:)
