Hello,
I have been riding for about three years now (in the non-winter months). I purchased a Trek WSD bike as my first road bike and had it custom fit at the bike shop. I had some adjustments done to the handlebars so I wasn't putting too much pressure on my upper back/elbows as they got sore easily when I was trying on the bike. So I sit more upright than it is designed.
My question is, should I have my bike re-fit as I become a more skilled and stronger cyclist? I notice that my butt is much more sore than it has been in the past...

Thoughts?
Thank you all!

I routinely get a total overhaul, and a refit about every year to year and a half because as I lose weight and get fit, my riding style and my posture change. I fiddle with my saddle occasionnaly because the pain or lack thereof depends on how much I ride, have been riding and how tough I am feeling.

I figure I get my car checked out as needed so I do the same iwth my bike.

so it shouldn't hurt?

Definitely! And don't be afraid to adjust some things yourself either. That is my problem. I am not terribly confident and they the bike shop peeps know all but in reality they are human too. ;)

After 3 years it could be that your saddle is just worn out.

Yoga is making a huge difference for me. I had a shorter stem put on my road bike. Now I'm almost ready to have the stock stem put back on. I'm much more flexible than I was even a few months ago. And more comfortable on longer rides. As you get more fit, your body will change and it only makes sense that your bike setup needs to change as well. Congrats on your progress!
