I strained and/or pulled something in my right calf a few weeks ago during a treadmill run. Ever since that day, I've had intermittent calf pain...feels like my calf muscle is in a constant state of contraction. It's been much better since I started wearing a compression calf sleeve during my runs and recovery. But today, I noticed that I have this massive bruising on my calf in the exact location where I was feeling the pain. Can a calf strain/pull cause external bruising? I definitely haven't fallen or bumped into anything that would have caused this monster of a bruise...I can't think of any other reason for it other than when I strained or pulled something a few weeks back.

Please check with your doctor.
Please.
If you had a few-weeks-old DVT that blew today, they'll catch it. Lovenox shots suck, but it's better than a pulmonary embolism. Seriously, please go to the doctor.
If it's nothing, they'll tell you that your internet peeps are paranoid and not to listen to anything on the web ever again. Fine with me. No-one should listen to me anyway. This critter sounds very suspicious, and too much like DVTs I've known and (not) loved.

+1 I agree!!...About the DVT...(not that "No-one should listen to me anyway") I have seen pretty nasty things happen with DVTs.
