So what do you have growing in your garden? This year I have lettuce, swiss chard, basil, apples, plums and green beans. But I am not sure what is up with my swiss chard and green beans? It looks like something is sucking the life out of my swiss chard but I can't find what it is? And my green bean plants aren't looking so green. And suggestions on a good food for them maybe.
Also if you ever wanted to know what to do with your old skylights...make a little green house! Pictures to follow!
In my green house as of yesterday I have cosmos, foxglove, lupine and columbine. A little late for starting seeds but I do live in California. I should have done some sun flowers! Today!

I run the garden at our middle school and right now I have 16 4' x 8' beds FILLED with veggies.

Yesterday was the radish harvest and I cleared three beds of french breakfast radishes. We've also harvested spinach and arugula for our cafeteria so far this year.

I have four varieties of carrots growing, sugar snap peas, English peas, red bell and serrano chili peppers, three varieties of cherry tomatoes, yellow crookneck squash, zucchini, radicchio, pickling cucumbers, purple, yellow and green beans, basil, parsley and a bed of mixed greens that will be harvested next week.

The swiss chard problem could be ants. Ants tend to gnaw at the roots and lower stems of plants and kill them from the bottom. I lost a fantastic zucchini crop to them last year. I'm waiting for a dry day so I can put out some 'explosive' cornmeal and some cinnamon in my beds to keep the little buggers at bay.

I don't do veggies but I have very extensive perennial beds. I have many different varieties of Hardy Geraniums, hummingbird attractors, rock garden plants and other stuff.

It's actually a plastic kittycat being yanked across the frame on fishing line. Monkey was trying to catch it, without success in this shot.

The garden looks beautiful Irulan! I love rock walls in that style, it's got cottage charm.
