This will be a welcome change (http://www.dnainfo.com/20110523/upper-west-side/bike-path-on-dark-section-of-west-side-highway-get-lights). That part of the bike path is totally dark -- really a problem for commuters in fall and winter.
I've sent Riverside administrator John Herrold an email thanking him and telling him I look forward to this improvement.
ETA: I heard a UPR tell a cyclist to dismount on a Riverside path just east of the Boat Basin -- technically I know paths are off limits to cyclists in all parks, but it's always been tolerated in Riverside. Don't know if this is a trend, or just a UPR who normally works in Central Park.
