Looks like Specialized changed their saddles a bit (old news, I know). The old Jett or Ruby look really good for me, shape-wise (I need a T-shaped saddle). I'm not so sure about the new ones. Can anyone comment? (The LBS does have an old 155 Jett in stock. I may have to go over there.)

I don't know what the changes are but I heard this last year and bought a spare Ruby.

The Specialized website has the old Ruby for sale. The new Rubys are less expensive. Not sure why.

Oh, interesting...I would love to see a side-by-side photo of the previous model of Jett (which I have) and the new one.

Interestingly enough, Specialized's website doesn't offer a top view of the new models. They had the top view for the old ones...

ETA: The LBS website did...
New: http://montgomerycyclery.com/product/features/specialized-womens-jett-expert-saddle-77470-1-36164.htm
Old:http://montgomerycyclery.com/product/features/specialized-womens-jett-saddle-61302-1-21495.htm

If someone's good with Photoshop, I'd love to see an overlay to compare the shape.
(And an overlay of the new one compared with my current saddle (SI Lady Gel Flow) would mean I'd love you forever. ;) )

Those are both overheads of the previous model. Hmmm...I may have to stop by the nearest store that sells Specialized. I think that's an hour away. It may be worth it, though. So are the new ones less t-shaped?

You're right! I wonder why they didn't feel the need to provide overhead pictures of the new ones...

If you google for the ruby expert you will see the new model. Tried one briefly, the cutout wound up causing chafing so stuck with my SSM aspide. I will say the expert ruby has a little more gel and got rid of those stupid plastic tabs.

I have both the old and the new Ruby saddles and can't really tell the difference. Here are pics from the web site (left = old):

I dunno about the overall shape, but it looks like they smoothed over that plastic tip on the front that drives me absolutely bonkers.

3 days before my last race, doing a seated climb..I felt something move beneath me. Finished that ride very tentatively, ran to LBS just before it closed. My beloved Jett had snapped. LBS does not carry Specialized product so I had to hightail it down to another store before it closed. New Jett installed the next day.

I am not happy. My previously happy parts are now very sad. THEY (Specialized) have changed this saddle. :( I think it is squishier. Did intervals this evening and I am still very uncomfortable.

I did a bike camp in Cali in May and rode a 2010 Specialized Transition with a 143 Jett. I had no issues.

I'm in saddle he!! once again. At least I only have one more du.....

I have an older Jett 143 from a 2007 Ruby I've been trying to sell. It's not squishy enough for me. PM me if interested.

Good to know. The footprints look similar. My only problem is that I'm in between a 143 and 155. Finding a 155 will be tricky. (LBS only stocks 130 or 143, even in the "women's" saddles.)

How is the overall length of the new vs old? I currently am riding on an older Ruby (with the silver tip nose). It almost looks as though the newer style is a tad bit shorter in length compared to the older one? Or is it just an optical illusion with the silver tip being gone on the new one?

To me, they seem to be the same length, but it's really hard to tell.

You are correct, the newer saddle is approximately 1/4 in shorter than the older version. Based on my non-exact measurements, that 1/4 inch is lost in the nose of the saddle. Interesting.

So is the Ruby just a more padded version of the Taupe?

I'm on a Taupe and it's a little too firm for me, have some chaffing on the inner thighs.

Yes, I would say that the Ruby is a slightly padded version of the Toupe. I have a Toupe on my backup bike, and when I have to go back and forth between the two bikes (when my primary bike is in the shop), I definitely notice a difference in padding. I prefer the Ruby. However, the overall shape is pretty much the same...so if you are getting some leg chaffing from the Toupe, chances are that you'll have the same with the Ruby.

@ Owlie...
I'm pretty handy with Photoshop, but kinda short on time (aren't we all?). Do you have links to the three saddles you want to compare? Which width? I'm always looking for a little more love! :D
