My DH used his REI dividend to offset the cost of a Pearl Izumi Barrier Convertible Jacket/Vest in yellow and a Take A Look Mirror. If it weren't for the big savings at REI I would have ordered the pink or the red jacket on the TE website. Who knows? If I love it I may have to get a second one. He has the same jacket/vest and uses it all the time and it has held up well. I hope I like it the same.

I have that jacket and really love it. It's my go-to cycling outerwear for a good 6 months of the year.

I bought that jacket at the "expo" before TOSRV, and (as NEVER happens on that ride) it didn't rain on us. See how well it works!

... And I bought four Chuck Harris mirrors for my out-of-state friends. I'd been thinking I ought to get a spare, but after mine survived my crash, I'm not sure I'll ever need one. It's funny how everyone in Ohio recognizes a Chuck Harris mirror, and most of them sport one themselves, but far enough away, everyone wants to know where I got it. :)

Question: I am strongly right eye dominant, so when I have the mirror mounted on the left side I see two images. Like my eyes are trying to "work it out". Should I give it a week or so to get used to what I am seeing or switch the mirror to the right side? I DO have a handlebar mirror on my current bike, however I want to get used to a helmet mirror so if/when I get a road bike I will be used to the helmet mirror.

Well, if you put the mirror on the right side, it won't do you any good. Unless you move to the UK, or somewhere else where you ride/drive on the left side of the road. :p

Since you have the mirror, I guess you may as well try to get used to it. I've never had an experience like yours, but I've had double vision out of one eye before, which my optometrist told me really was possible, and is a sign of poor correction. When's the last time you had your eyes checked?

That said, there are bar end mirrors for road bikes, and I know a lot of people who use and like them.

ETA - I used my REI dividend and coupon to get another pair of SW longjohns for $19 shipped. :D It bugged me a little to buy something that I won't need for another five or six months, but it was one of the few things they have that I really can use, but can't easily buy locally.

Thanks OakLeaf. I'll practice with my mirror today and see how it goes.
Nice on your REI purchase. I feel your pain in regard to buying something you won't use for awhile. I'm considering buying "winter" riding gloves now, since they're all marked down, but it's hard to justify spending money when I may not use them for awhile.
Good to know there are mirrors for road bikes. I don't even have a road bike yet, but I'm getting prepared.....;)
