I saw someone else posting about their RAAM team of two awesome women, and I wanted to spread the word about our team as well. I'm crew for Team4hivhope, a four man relay team, with three members who are HIV positive. About half of our crew of 12 are also positive. We want to show the world that with the right treatment, there is life and hope after diagnosis. We have a website: www.teamforhivhope.com and we're on twitter and facebook. During the race we will be blogging on the website www.thebody.com Please cheer us on!

Woohoo! I'll look out for you guys! Our team is RAAM Boomers. Say "hi" if we cross paths!
edit: I'm not joining the crew until they get to Colorado, so don't look for me earlier!
edit, take 2: and I think we're still looking for another crew member, so if it sounds like the best way to spend your summer vacation, lemme know!

The only thing we need is how to figure out how to pay for it. We've actually gotten a few donations but since we are not a non profit group it's tough. We're all pitching in. It's really our dream

Well, we came in fourth out of 32 four-man teams, so as rookies, we feel pretty good. At least two of the racers are planning on doing it again. I'm still undecided. It was an experience of a lifetime that I'm not sure I want to repeat...

That is so fantastic! I met a man at an organized ride on Saturday who says he's involved with organizing the time stops. I'm not in a position to do it yet, but one day I'd really love to crew for a RAAM team, or be involved with the nuts-and-bolts side of it somehow. Once you've caught your breath, maybe you could give us a narrative of your experience?

Congrats!
I may want to pick your brain a bit. I might be crew next year for a team my friend is getting together.

Feel free to contact me. We also have a page on Facebook which has links to our blog on www.thebody.com which is a good place to get info on our team and what we did. We are already gearing up for next year with some really interesting new additions to what we are doing. To find our blog go to: http://www.thebody.com/content/62386/race-across-america-team4hivhope-cycles-to-raise-a.html
and you can do a search on Facebook for our page.

Our team did great -- it was the two-woman team. I had a blast, the women were amazing, and I'm committed to crew again for another team next year. It was insanely exhausting, but crazy-fun!

Wooohooo, glad to hear this! Somehow I missed RAAM this year, guess things were just too busy. Last year I volunteered for the time stop in Bloomington, IN and enjoyed it!

Team4hivhope is going to race again, though with two new racers along with two veterans. One of our new team members has done RAAM in the past as a solo as well as on a team so we are very excited to have his experience. We have other things up our sleeve which are not public yet, but will keep you posted.
