This looks like the right spot to do this :D
Been reading around awhile, what a great forum! Well done!!!!
I'm just getting back into cycling. I did a lot back before I had kids, then after(with them on the back!), just tearing around town. I still have my bright yellow mtb which was my chosen college grad gift, good grief, 19eighty freakin seven! When the boys were 5-7 my husband got us all dirt bikes, which since I love to RIDE things was perfect. We've been doing that now almost 15 years--it's been a wonderful sport as a family. Trail.
My son wants to do more cycling so I'm right there with him, we (both kids) really enjoy doing this kind of thing together(cycling, dirtbikes, running, outdoors). SO I'm here catching up :D Been working out hard for the past four years so I can ride mo better--I DO NOT want to get old!!! I LOVE feeling like a monster!!! I do weightlifting, walk/run on the TM, and of course all the riding I can get. I did have a head on with a tree last August(rider mechanical error:D), I hit it going about 25 mph on my dirt bike, broke my arm and tailbone, sprained stuff*. BUT all that fitness training beefed up my bones and made me strong to hold onto my bike so I didn't drill the tree with my head and become a vegetable(I just tapped it, and my moto is fine, AND I rode back to camp:D). I am a freakin evangelist on training for the crash!
So I'm getting back into cycling, on my dino mtb:D, on the road. What I've learned with trail skills on the dirt bike has made me better in cornering and aggression. Of course not having a kid on the back of the bike helps a lot too!!!
I've written a few few articles addressing women's fitness for RacerXVirtualTrainer

I'm sure the deadlift rocks for cyclists too:D you might have fun reading it(even though it has to do with motorcycles).
(Sorry this is long) I'm really excited to get back into cycling. I love to ride anything, bike, moto, horses. It's all great and the most important thing is it makes me feel alive.
And for my rub with cycling fame, I grew up next door to Antler Man.:D
*btw I did this keeping up with two teenage girls who are fast riders, I was pushing them and boy it felt awesome--I'm "just a mom" and they're going WTF(oops).
