Hey, my daughter in law needs to borrow a bike for a day or two in June while she's there. Does anyone live near enough and have a bike you might lend??

here's what she said:

Do either of you have, perchance, in your communities of cyclists, a pal in Madison WI who might be willing to lend me a bike for 24 hours or so? I asked Kevin and Jessie to ask around, but it's like they're grad students planning a wedding or something - no answer yet. Frankly, it doesn't have to be a great fit, because it's for a duathlon in which the bike part is only 15 miles. What I'm after is a functioning bicycle that I could pick up on Friday evening (June 10th) and return on Saturday after the race. Not even 24 hours, I suppose.

If you can't find a loaner, maybe she could rent:

We rented road bikes recently on our trip to Utah. I was really nervous about fit and the quality of the bike, but was pleasantly surprised. I think we'll be more open to it from here on out. We did bring our own pedals and, if I had to do it again, I'd bring my own saddle, too.

If she's coming through Chicago, let me know.
