I'm sure the Post-Apocalyptic Pony Express could use cyclists as well as ponies!

That reminded me I hadn't looked at Betty Bowers (http://www.bettybowers.com/) in a while.

Are we allowed to post this stuff here? :o

Oh my, Betty Bower is so close to a coupla people I know, it's almost hard to tell it's over the top raging satire...

betty bowers is alive and well right here next door to me in Katy Texas, which is why I always do on bike training sessions in the garage with the garage door oen so I can wave as she goes by.

I can't even look at that stuff as satire. I mean, it's funny, but after a million times of being told I was going to go to hell when I was a 15 year old who had just moved to Florida, I learned really fast that not everyone has the same ideas about life.
Marni, you must be kinder than me.

So where to the rest of us meet to party at 6:30 pm? Or should we wait until after the various pets left behind are taken care of first?

My wonderful nextdoor neighbor, who is a devout Christian, had this response: But I have a play the next two weekends! (and his play has a Christian satire theme, and is hosted in a church).

Someone started an event on Facebook: "Post rapture looting." It's up to over 250,000 attendees.

You can be sure it won't happen on the date set by Camping. ;)

In the event that I go poof, someone will have a hey day with all my bikes. :D

If any of my immediate neighbors go poof, I'm annexing their homes. I will be using one as additional bike storage and workshop. The others I'm thinking of razing for a community garden and mini goat farm, but I'm willing to see what other ideas anyone else in the neighborhood has. Just sayin':p:D

I read over on Reddit that a flashmob is planning to leave out crumpled sets of clothing (shoes, pants, shirts) to look as though people were raptured here and there on Saturday.

Imagine thinking you'd been left behind on May 21, when you were SURE you'd be raptured.... "OMG, here's some clothes left by an ascended woman! I'm left behind! I'm one of the cursed heathen! HORROR!!!"

That information made my day. Wish I hadn't just dropped off a Salvation Army bag.

I read something about people planning to leave their old shoes out ... with lumps of dry ice in them, so they'd still be smoking from the "rapture." :D

We went to hear a couple of bands play tonight. One of the guitarists had "LEFT BEHIND" Sharpie'd on his guitar body. :D

Well, finally we're getting some answers.

The end of the world has been rescheduled (http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2011/05/23/us/AP-US-Apocalypse-Saturday.html?hp).

How convenient. I thought the rapture was to happen last saturday, those of us left behind would suffer all summer, then the world would end in Oct. So now it all happens in one day? Someone remember to drag this thread back to life on Oct 22nd :D

Well, I guess we'll just have to celebrate my birthday a day early. Unless the whole thing is rather anti-climactic, in which case we can resurrect this thread and have cake at the same time!

22nd, actually. But birthday ride all the same. I actually still owe myself a 23-miler from last year.
