Okay, it was not entirely spontaneous as we knew we were going to be driving right past the mall with the Pearl Izumi outlet store last night...However, I could not resist buying a pair of P.R.O. microsensor shorts which were an extra 20% off the already discounted price ... I hope I like them- they are in the next tier up compared to the shorts I've been wearing.

And then there was a sleeveless blue and white jersey with butterflies, that matches the shade of blue on my new bike perfectly... I only have one sleeveless jersey and it's going to be a long, hot Arizona summer.

My DH was saying "go ahead, buy it" for both of them. Now I have to wait until Sunday to try them out.

Well, at least it wasn't stupid impulse shopping! You got great stuff you need and will use. No harm done!

There are actual several PI outlet stores- there just happens to be one right next to the freeway, just north of Phoenix, AZ, and we were driving that way last night.

I just learned that there is a PI outlet store about 30 miles south of me.

Is it worth the travel?

There's one about 20 minutes from here. The new stuff is still pricey, but I've scored a few times on the sale racks. It's always fun to go in though.

Yesterday I went to the Biketires Direct store looking for a new saddle to try and came out with a saddle, a new PI convertable jacket, some PI armwarmers, and asst.bars and fizzy drink stuff. All this stuff was on clearance plus we had a credit so it was all under $175. The funniest part was my husband was at work and got online to use the credit and they sent him a receipt. So before I had even made it home he sent me a text wondering what I bought. I laughed because then he told me he had ways of knowing when I spent $$$ I. Told him he got off cheap because they had a Leopard bike that would have matched my new jacket and saddle perfectly but I restrained myself. The PI outlet store is nice but a lot more trouble for me:D

I think the clearance stuff can be worth it. There were quite a few things at 50% off, and the first time I went I got two jerseys marked 75% off (both high viz yellow, which I wanted).

We have a PI Outlet store about 30 miles away from us. We've driven out there a few times. My DH usually has much better luck scoring items on the clearance rack than I do, since he wears a medium and there is generally a bunch of stuff that size. I normally can never find anything on clearance in my size, since I need an XL in most PI tops. They tend to have huge amounts of stuff in the smaller sizes, and a very limited amount in the larger sizes. Which generally leaves me out of luck.

Beth, there's one at the Woodburn Outlets along I-5 just south of Portland.

Road trip?

EEEEK. I've avoided looking at cycling clothes  as my road bike is still in it's shipping crate. I have an appointment with an orthopod tomorrow morning to get a new verdict on my knee. Really need to have the bike uncrated, then maybe I'll allow myself to need new cycling gear. :o I do have plenty of summer gear....

I just put away our cycling clothes from the weekend and I had to laugh. 4 years ago my DH wouldn't be caught dead in cycling shorts. I would wear cycling shorts but didn't see the point of a jersey.

We now have a whole section of our closet dedicated to bike clothes--and it's quickly taking over.

I feel deprived, living in Ohio. On the other hand, my bank account is probably a lot happier.
Hmm...I have an excuse to visit the Phoenix area, and I've always wanted to visit the northwest. Anyone want to put up with me for a day? I don't take up too much space...
