I bought my bike in April. Got *one* ride in at the park, just enough to really get excited about the way it felt to be in the saddle and moving again, and it rained for the following month.

This past week has finally been *gorgeous*. A few sprinkles, but nothing terrible... Until I decided to go buy pedals & shoes. Got caught in a HUGE thunderstorm while driving to the shop that carried what I was looking for. Thunder in the distance while I was swapping the pedals out yesterday afternoon, so I didn't go any further than our parking area while practicing clipping in & out (but love the new setup already). Planned on hitting the road for a slightly longer ride this morning before the predicted afternoon thunderstorms & showers...

and woke up to more RAIN.*

At least I didn't fall yesterday while practicing clipping in / out (although getting my right foot clipped consistently on the first try is going to be something I need to work on).

*(I know it's perfectly possible to ride in the rain... just not willing to learn wet-road handling skills at the same time that I'm trying to solidify skills at riding clipped in while on the road)

Want the rain to stop? Buy a rain jacket. Works like a charm.

Congrats on your new bike!

Two organized rides in town today. Solid rain since 6 am with gusty winds.

I managed to sneak a 30-minute ride in between downpours... it was misting a little bit, but the pavement was dry enough that I'll be able to wear the same capris over my bike shorts for my Sunday ride :)

I did pay for my ride by dropping my chain twice... the first time on the hill up out of my complex headed out to the main road, which led to me almost falling over (almost forgot to clip out); the second time on the same darn hill but this time on the main road heading back to home. ARGH! The second time I had to fix it on the narrow, narrow shoulder of a busy road... I was more nervous about getting started again while being in traffic than anything else. But it worked out okay.

I hear you on the wet & other days windy weather we are having here in the east. We actually had about a week of nice weather now to be followed of a week of wetness. It has been one horrible spring this year and hope it comes to an end soon. Since I can't take it anymore I am riding home from work on my mtn bike regardless.
