I keep trying to catch a top from Exte Ondo on Sierra Trading post as many rave about how incredible it is. Is it that good?

I have always wondered about this. I don't mind paying good money for something incredible, but really, why are their things so much more than say, the Terry jerseys I have and love? My friend got a pair of Exte Ondo shorts and a matching sleeveless top and those were the shorts you could see through .

I have bib shorts, tights, and a winter EO top - all from STP, BTW.
quite like the shorts. The tights are really comfy - if getting a bit big on me. The top I'm less enamored with. It's a jacket/jersey hybrid and seems too thick for a jersey, and too drafty for a jacket.
Quality of construction on all is top notch. Shorts are actually better than my Castellis.

Their stuff at least, from Canada...looks generally more than what I could afford.

Anyway, I have to stick to a price range..I have a mortgage to pay off now..at my less than young age.

Shootingstar,

Right on! The mortgage is more important at our age!

Shootingstar,

Right on! The mortgage is more important at our age!

Our mortgage will be paid off by age 45 and I started a Roth IRA just so I could afford Exte Ondo stuff when I reach retirement. ;) Some people save for retirement so they can live comfortably- I save so I can buy nice bike stuff! :p A girl has to have her priorities. hee hee

Seriously, tho, I don't own any. I can't imagine/justify spending quite so much on clothes I'm just going to get dirty and sweat in... but it sure does look like nice stuff! Kinda like the outdoor clothing Arc'teryx. LOVE the stuff, but I only buy it when it's on Steepandcheap.com because it's so ridiculously overpriced.

Seriously top notch stuff. Yes, you can absolutely tell the difference between something from Terry and something from Exte Ondo. Whether or not that difference is worth the cash to you is a personal choice. To some people, it matters. To others, not so much. Everyone has different priorities.

I have a pair of winter capri cycling bottoms from Exte Ondo (bought from another TE member) and they are fantastic. So much so that I considered paying full price for a summer weight bottom. Beautiful fit, beautiful fabrication, beautiful construction and I happen to really like the look of the Exte Ondo style.

I will admit that after 3 years working for Polo Ralph Lauren, I developed an unnatural attraction to very high quality apparel. Once you've worn clothing (and shoes) like that on a day in and day out basis, nothing else but high quality will do. It's a curse, really. I WISH I could be satisfied with Old Navy or Target stuff...I really do.

GLC, I am generally like you, in that as I have aged, I can't do Target, etc. I would rather have less stuff, but really good stuff. My favorite cycling jersey brand is now Voler, although I did buy a new Sheila Moon jersey this spring. Good stuff is worth the cash, although I think I would look on STP, etc. for Exte Ondo. It seems like 85.00 is my limit for a jersey.

I think it is good but my only pair came from STP. Paying full price for them I don't think they are worth. But yes, the expensive brands do feel nicer. My mountain bike team has Castelli bibs (not the top ones, next ones down) and I am glad we get them pretty much for cost. They are amazing, really support your muscles, the chamois fits awesome but I can't see spending that much on them. Bike clothes we are likely to splurge but it is still painful especially when you race mountain bikes and we have had two jerseys rip from catching a tree. I also spend a lot time "quality controlling" dirt. Luckily on the jerseys my mom is a fabulous seamstress. :)

gahhhh what is STP? (besides the most famous ride in the Pac NW and a famous fuel additive??)

I was wondering the same thing. The only STP I know of is the Stone Temple Pilots and I couldn't imagine my favorite band wearing Exte Ondo. ;)

Thanks!
