Rides/routes around Snoqualmie Pass, Washington

My husband and I have back to back weekend events in Washington the end of July so have a week to fill with some nice riding. ;)

We will be camping close to the top of snoqualmie pass and am looking for suggestions for rides. Will be on our touring bikes that can handle pave or dirt/gravel roads but not extreme Mountain biking trails.

Would love some insight and help! (yes, we will have the car so can drive to areas if need be)

Up in the pass proper there's actually very few roads at all.... There are some forest service roads that tend to be packed gravel/dirt that are rideable on a road bike with wide tires. (I'd get some Green Trails maps if you are interested in those) I'm guessing you are staying at Denny Creek? That's one of the few paved roads other than the interstate up there.

You can also ride on the Iron Horse/John Wayne trail, though there are spots where the gravel gets a bit deep! If you like to ride passes you can go a bit east to Cle Elem and do Blewett Pass. Old Blewett is closed to car traffic, but the surface was pretty rough when I was there 6 or 7 years ago, so I'm not sure how it is now.

If you head down to North Bend you find more paved roads and some nice farm country

To be more specific than that I'd want to know a few things - how long are you looking to ride? Do you like hills or would you want flatter routes. How much tolerance do you have for traffic? How far do mind traveling to get to your ride?

I will check those out, thanks. We will be staying at Lake Kachess Campground, close to Easton. Cle Elem is totally within riding distance. I do worry with North Bend and traffic but perhaps if we time it for mid week, during the day it wouldn't be to bad. I ride 650B's and the bike hermit has 700 by 32, if the deep gravel section are short, we are fine.

bad news is that there is major construction on I-90 and in spots between Snoqualmie and Easton there is NO shoulder at all. VERY dangerous.

What is great about this trip is we will be driving over so we can avoid all bike riding on any major roads! Thanks for the heads up about I90 as we do have drive on it.

What type of riding are you looking for? There is good riding in E. WA and W. WA. It may be hot on the east side during July, but perfect riding weather on the west side.

We will be doing day trips from Lake Kachees Campground, some of the trails look interesting and of course, back roads. We plan to limit the car use as much as possible so heading to CleElum and Roslyn areas will probably be in the plan. Will be sure to do a follow up post and review.

Hey everyone,
We have decided to head West/northwest from Bellevue instead of staying in the Mountains. I just started a new Thread in the Northwest forum section in hopes people will have ideas and suggestions.
My concern is I don't want to be on roads with tons of traffic.
Have been looking at Adventure cycling but any other ideas are most welcome.
