I don't want to embarrass myself at the LBS, so:

How in the heck does one pronounce MIXTE?

I think I may have a line on a new job which will require a new commuter bike for me. OK, it won't be required, but a much lighter bike than the one I currently use around town would be most appreciated. There is a hill between me and The Job which I'm pretty sure has a grade that has the word ~teen in it. I'm also thinking that with my weight and really sketchy knee, an electric assist would be a reasonable idea.

But first I need to find a bike, and ask for it like I know what I'm talking about.

So, I ask again, how does one pronounce MIXTE?

mix tee but don't be surprised if the guy doesn't know what you are talking about.

The American way is mix-tea.

The French is something like meekst.

Thank you. Sometimes it is good to check on words you only see in print. For all I knew, it was pronounced 'mun-ee.' :D

better not go into a bike shop and ask to look for "moon-ee"

Haha. I tease my husband for being such a sucker in bike shops. He practically has a sign on his forehead that says, "Tell me about something I need to buy."

With regard to mixtes, here's a link to a website devoted to "lovely bikes". I like to scroll through the photos and make loud sighing sounds...

That's what I love about this site. It is full if enablers.

Lovely bikes, indeed.
