Starting last spring and now recurring this spring, my skin is really sensitive to my sweat, especially around my eyes. I think it has to do with the allergens in the air as it only happens in the spring.
The skin around my eyes is tender and I look like a racoon. Anyone have suggestions to help with this--I do wear a headband to catch sweat from dripping down my face.

The first Spring when I was a new runner I developed eczema on the area between my lids and my brows. I started wearing a wicking hat and carrying a hanky, after that. I am apparently allergic to my own sweat!

good old vaseline...works for me. I learned this from my dermatologist when I had the same type of problem when an acne retinol caused irritation at the outside corners of my eyes, and underneath. Heck, worth a try.

My face burns from sweat too, generally around the eyes and temples. Feels like a chemical burn. I think you guys decided it was from high salt content when I asked :) I can't seem to keep the sweat off so I just bring extra water to dump over my face now.

A whole new "allergic to sweat" issue.
I know my sensitive skin around my eyes gets swollen, irritable, red, and burns when I sweat a lot and am not wearing some kind of sweat band.
This weekend I raced and I forgot to put on bag balm. About halfway into the race I noticed I was in a lot of pain down there. It just didn't seem like a saddle issue but felt like I was swollen and raw--I knew forgetting the bag balm was a bad, bad mistake.
Immediately after the race I used the restroom and nearly fell over in pain, burning pain. I think sweating down there caused irritation--swelling, burning, etc. It was AWFUL! I will never forget bag balm again.

Ya know, I just had a similar experience running!!
9 miles and the weather was really pleasant but I was apparently sweating a lot and the sweat was saltier than normal. Ouch!! My sis recommended vaseline for running.
