Due to circumstances that are entirely under my control (I just chose not to control them at this juncture) I now weigh 65 pounds more than I did in the last photos of me anyone posted to TE. (and I won't be posting any now, either!)

I'm fat.

Not just plump, chubby, heavy, or overweight. I'm honest-to-gawd FAT. "Obese" according to my doctor and every single BMI/height-weight/pudge-o-meter known to mankind. (Pencil Test? I win! Flab folds over waistband while standing and sucking in gut? I win! Belly sticks out farther than boobs? I win!)

My dearly beloved Patagonia "active brief" undies have never let me down. I'm still a size "Large." They stretch. They stretch real good. XL would probably fit a bit better, but I'm not going there. I'd like to continue to pretend that I'm still just a "Large". TE has them: http://www.teamestrogen.com/prodPA_32402_0.html But it looks like the bikinis are taking over the Patagonia underwear slot for TE.

A new fab-o undie has crested my horizon. Isis. "Oh, Mighty Isis!" (10 extra points if you are old enough to remember THAT on Saturday morning cartoons!) http://www.isisforwomen.com/everyday-brief.html I wear XL in Isis, and I have no complaints. They have stars all over them. They are cheaper than Patagonia. They stay put. They say "You Are A Goddess" on the inside of the front waistband. What's not to love?

The fabric is similar to Patagonia's. The waistband sits slightly lower, the legs are the same. Coverage of the back acreage is the same.

And they say "You Are A Goddess" where only you and your nearest and dearest can see.

The colors are ok. The moon and rhubarb are spiffy. The stars on the rhubarb are a darker red, not the gray it appears on the website.

And did I mention they say "You Are A Goddess", oh I did?

Check 'em out. I betcha they fit skinny chicks, too.

And now, for the all time low of $16 (or $12 here (http://outlet.altrec.com/isis/underwear/)) you, too, can get in Knot's panties. :D:eek::D

I remember Isis!!!! Oooohhh, me, me, me. I get the 10 points! :D I also remember Electro Woman and Dyna Girl. Anyone? Electro Woman is aka Marlena from Days of Our Lives. Yup, I'm an idiot. :D I really loved Sid and Marty Krofft.

Nice looking undies ya got there, Knott.

Not any more, honey. These days it's "blubba blubba."

Undies are a waste of time, just go commando and never look back. :D

The Isis I remember was a live action show.

Thank you Knott for the excellent review, which simultaneously got me thinking that I need new underwear AND took me back to the 70's!

If you had suddenly gotten as fat as me, you'd be "bitter like quinine" too.

Oh, damm, and this is my 10,000th post....

Gee it's nice to know I'm not alone in feeling a tad pudgy. A year ago I was just starting to deal with an unhappy knee (torn ligaments). Haven't been on a decent bike ride in a long time. Then this flatlander moved to a place with real geography. And I'm sceered of them thar hills. Still need to take my road bike to LBS to have it uncreated, reassembled, then have a fitting. With the longer days, I thought I'd take the two of use riding on the bike paths down in the river valley after work.

I have clothes in my closet I can't get into. :( Must drop the weight I gained.

I'm also woefully out of shape from spending the last two years living in a car-centric perpetual winter wonderland. Clothes still fit (barely) but I've lost muscle tone and stamina.

But I'm back in Seattle now, at least 90% of the time anyway. Should we organize a Seattle TE ride in the near future? Somewhere nice and easy? It's been a while.

Yes! I have to haul my crated road bike to a LBS for reassembly. But I have my 3 speed if the ride really will be nice and easy.

I think we can find something easy somewhere. I'll start a thread in the Northwest forum to see if anyone else wants to join.

I'm going the other way on the weight scale. And have had to order smaller undies.

But I would like to recommend the larger undies (that I'm now going to pack away for the triathlon-training-off-season)

Icebreaker Bikini (http://www.icebreaker.com/site/icebreaker_woman_nature150_bikini.html)

They are wool! (KNOT!!! Your fave!) They are cool, comfortable and not at all skimpy. They cover what needs to be covered. But they aren't granny-panites either. They also last for years and years and years. They are spectacular in high heat and humidity (Hawaii tested year round!) and I only wear these undies. I own nothing else.

They are not cheap. But I've had the same pairs now for over 5-6 years easy. So they are worth the investment.

I've had to size down from L to M and actually went with a little "smaller" cut.

Icebreaker Siren Bikini (http://www.icebreaker.com/site/icebreaker_woman_nature150_siren_bikini.html)

Sexy!

I envy any woman that can wear bikini undies. For somebody (ME!!!) with a significant tummy "pooch", bikinis are a definite no-go! I can't wear anything but a brief (and yes, they do resemble granny panties)...at the absolute bare minimum, I might be able to get away with a hi-cut brief...but it's still a brief. <sigh> :(
