Hi everyone. I'm interested to know how your legs look like after several years of cycling. I've personnaly seen major changes in my thighs after 5 years of serious training, including weight training. I used to be seriously skinny. I gained 26 pounds in 5 years, mostly muscle I would say. I attached a few photos. Tell me what you think about them and send yours.

Do you talk about anything other than thighs?

I'm getting a weird vibe here...

Yeah this is all too weird. Nothing but thigh pictures all over the forum in 4 different threads all of a sudden.
Do you like my big thighs? Tell me what you think of them. Send me pictures of yours!.... Um yeah right.

Sorry I'm new to this forum. I posted my photos in several other threads because I thought they were more appropriate for the topic.

You asked us what we think of your legs in the pictures, so...

To tell you the truth, your legs look more like steroid/synthol weight lifter legs than cyclist legs to me. I'm not saying you actually take steroids, but your legs look unnatural and kind of deformed to me. Sorry.

Too bulky to look feminine, they look more like my husbands.....sorry, just being honest...

Ditto. That is exactly what I was thinking, too.

I think they look like power-lifter legs, not cyclist legs.

Yes, I see them all of the time at my gym, cyclist legs look quite different - at least all that I've seen so far.

I know they look like bodybuilder legs since I also do fitness competition. I also wanted to hear about the changes in yours from cycling and maybe lifting weights. I feel a weird and agressive atmosphere toward new comers here...

If you are new, it would be more meaningful for us, if you introduced yourself, the type of cycling, your bikes, etc.

Celine - yes, those are bodybuilder legs, and no, there's nothing wrong with that. But this is not a bodybuilding or fitness forum, and the tone here is quite different. We are not aggressive to newcomers, just wary. Discussing ones body in detail on the internet demands a bit of trust and there are many weirdos out there. If you introduce yourself, or ask questions about cycling, you will be met with a lot more friendly responses.

Celine - you can understand what our concern was. Most of our newcomers introduce themselves and their bikes (if they are riding yet), and some have questions related to cycling - they don't normally post pictures of body parts and ask to see other photos. In the many years I've been on the internet this is one of the most welcoming forums I have ever been on, but of course one does have to be cautious on the internet.

Celinefitness.. don't give up on us. I'm not good with words and what I say on the internet comes out weird sometimes and misrepresents myself, but most of what I know about cycling I have learned from here. I see kids on facebook that post things that worry me much more than your legs :D Anyway, if I had legs like yours I could climb hills and do the mountains where some of my relatives live, instead of wishing for lower gears and/or better legs.

I'm sure my legs resemble yours under the rather generous fat layer. Not sure that is because of cycling though. I've always found it embarassing because, as some have mentioned, they're not very feminine.

I think they look like a sprinter's legs. Looks like you have some power!

I used to walk 4 miles every day, and my legs still didn't have any definition. Now my legs have a nice groove down the sides. I like what cycling has done for them. Seeing that groove develop was a early great motivator for getting me on the bike. Now it's second nature, and I need to ride or I go nuts, but before that happened, it was all about that groove.

[QUOTE=redrhodie;569546]I think they look like a sprinter's legs.QUOTE]

When I opened this thread again and saw the pictures a second time, they started to remind me of what a sprinter's legs look like. So, what kind of cycling do you do? Rides for fun, centuries, any racing, etc.?

I'm not at all a cycling specialist. My main sport is fitness. I thought that cycling would help to add size and shape to my thighs, which is a very important part in my sport. I train on the bike 3 times/week. After warming up, I do some intervals: sprinting for 40 to 60 seconds and recovering for 1 to 3 minutes. I currently do 20 sprint intervals.

Are you riding outside or inside? Indoor cycling class is how I increased my fitness for the bike - I do strength training but the purpose of it is to support my cycling. If you do ride outside what kind of bike do you have?

If you really wanna add thigh, get into track racing.

I mostly do indoor cycling. Track cycling is interesting but it takes time. I have to share my time between two sports...

I think one has to decide what it is that one wants to do, and then develop the muscles needed to do that well. Unless the actual goal is to have big muscles?
I mean, some cyclists might not want or need overly gigantic thigh muscles to do centuries, touring, commuting, racing, etc. On the other hand, a weightlifter would need them. I feel muscles are a tool in order to be able to do something specific.
