I'm eyeballing a pair of Shivers. Perhaps not to replace my Sidis, but as something a hair roomier/wider that I can wear a heavier sock with for cold weather riding (my Sidis only work with a VERY thin sock, 'cause I have duck feet). Looks like they might have been discontinued and the price is right. I've been told they run wide, which is good.

One retailer has them in a 39 and 39.5...I'm not sure which size is likely to fit me best. My casual and athletic shoes run the gamut of 38-40...but I would say 39 is the more typical fit. My Sidis are 40s, but I believe I've been told that they run about a full size small. Most of my running shoes are in the 7.5 wide to 8.5 medium range, giving me a good thumbnail width of wiggle room beyond the toes. My Keens are generally 38.5 and Dansko Professional clogs are 39.

I have a pair of Northwave Shivers...I use them for spinning. I also have the road version of that shoe - the Velvet, that I use for road riding. I really like them and wish Northwave would continue to expand on their women's line, but that doesn't seem to be the case. My Velvet shoes are starting to look worn and scraggly and I'd love to replace them with another pair, but I'm having a hard time finding any, especially in my size. As for sizing reference, my Shivers are a 42.5 and my Velvets are a 42. I wear a size 10.5 - 11 in running shoes. I got the Shivers a half-size larger because I tend to wear a more cushioned sock at the gym, which takes up more room in the shoe. However, I have also worn thicker wool winter socks with my road shoes and it didn't seem to pose much of a problem. But that could be due to the fact that my winter rides are much shorter in length, so my feet don't have an opportunity to swell as much.

Check their return policy, then buy both and return the ones that don't work out.
