BMC riders?

Ok Ladies,

who has a BMC? I have a fit question. My frame is ordered but now I am not sure about the size,lol! we will find out next week if it fits.

I normally need a 49/50, I have an odd body. I am 5'6 but I have a short torso, so my seat post ends up getting jacked up b/c otherwise the top tube is too long for me.

Anyways, after scrutinizing the geometry charts it was decided to order me the 47 b/c the top tube is 520. It just seems so weird to me, hard concept to wrap my brain around, of being on a 47! I feel like it will be so small. But then I also have to remember that it is a men's frame and not a women's


So to those of you out there who have a BMC, what size do you ride and how is that in comparison to other frames you have ridden?

I guess after scrutinizing the geometry charts, it makes sense. The seat tube is 475 and the top tube is 520, so it should fit pretty well! (hopefully,lol)

Within the week I will have new photos for bike lusting of the SLR01 :)

Going to be building it up with SRAM.

I don't know anything about BMC geometry, but do know something about geometry. Given the general principle that you shouldn't jack with saddle position to shorten or lengthen your reach, it sounds like you'll be better off with the smaller frame. That way, you can set your saddle up with respect to your knees, which is what you want. You may find that you'll have more power. You can lengthen your reach with a longer stem if necessary.

Not sure this is of any help, but I figured I'd share my BMC experience.
I am 5'4'' with the opposite problem (I need a LOOONG reach but have short legs ). Currently I own two BMC's, and I fit well on the XS frame size for both racemaster and time machine. I also have a 110 stem size on the racemaster, although it's an integrated stem/handlebar system so it does not really look too long.

Compared to other bikes, I have not changed the size I normally buy. I grew up with Bianchi and always rode Bianchi for about 30 years - usually changing to a newer model every 2-3 years. In most cases Bianchi's had some models with long horizontal top tubes, and they were a reasonable good fit. In several occasions though, I had to use 110mm stems to obtain a better fit. It was not perfect I guess, but it was a very good fit. I tried a couple of other bikes and it was a fit disaster. I did ride a BMC in Switzerland for a while - and it seemed to work well at that time.

What I can tell you for sure, and of course it is only my personal experience - is that the BMC geometry seems to fit me much better than anything else. I actually ordered those bikes based on their geometry chart - we did not have a dealer in town so I did not test-ride them or anything, the shop just ordered the frames for me and I built the bikes.
The geometry looked like it was going to be an excellent fit - and it is. BMC turned out to be the 'perfect fit' for me: it's the most comfortable ride, as well as the most efficient fit in terms of power transfer. Really, I could not ask for more.

These are definitely excellent bikes, I hope you will enjoy your BMC!
