THe whole week has been kind of "off" :confused: and odd for some reason. I don't know if it's the end result of training me patooskies off for our Petit Oppy then the XC race a week later last month..
Anywho, I wanted to venture to a trail this morning & realized as I arrived at the parking area that...I forgot my bike..
I can't seem to sleep in anymore nor can i not bike. I've biked once this week, swam 2x's and trainer session yesterday
Is it ok to take a holiday from biking for a few days? How do i tell myself "yes"...:o

My DS had a sleep study earlier this week because of her chronic fatigue.

+1 what Channlluv said! You ride at a much higher level than I do, but I can't help but to think that a couple days rest will help you to be even stronger for the break.
YES, you can take a break :)
BTW, I will be on the virtual sidelines cheering for you for your two upcoming events - as I am sure we all will be!

Rest and recovery are part of training, CC. Take a couple of days off.

I'm having a sleep in tomorrow :). We have new pillows and they're very inviting :D.
If i joined the group roadie ride tomorrow, i'm sure i'd be the weakest link...:o

interesting article on bicycling.com website today about rest and recovery as part of the training process.
When I finished the cross country tour, it took me a week of sleeping in late, getting up, wandering off to find some brunch, going back to the motel, taking a nap, getting up again and wandering off to find some dinner and then going back to bed for the night , before I could even begin to think about things in real life like packing and shipping my bike, renting a car and driving home, or even doing any touristing in St. Petersburg.
I think the forgetting the bike is a clear hint that you need to take some time off.

Ahhh..I slept in this morning til 730am!! I feel much much better and rejuvinated. We took doggie to de doggie beach & then went for coffee.
Ahhhh..much better. :)

A friend once explained it to me in such a way: riding and training is to stress your muscles out. Rest and recovery is time for them to get used to the stress so you can stress them out further. So rest and recovery is a reslly important part of training. Also, my last 2 weeks of 4 hour nights have resulted in a zombie who couldn't train the whole time too. So sleep is good. Very good.

I'm glad to hear it. Give yourself a weekend off, you've not been slacking by any stretch of the imagination, after all.

My husband created a phrase for just such an occasion. Slack Yourself. It means to take the advice you would give a friend. The dishes can go undone, the bike can go unridden, the laundry can wait. Without time to rest, you can not be your best you. Slack yourself.

Glad you took a day off:). We are so hard on ourselves sometimes. The greatest thing is when you realize how much that day off of rest and recovery did for you.
I've been really sick and run down lately. I finally had to say "enough" and let go of some things. Tomorrow I have the day off, and I am soooooo glad. Really need it.
