View Full Version : Cant get clips off

I wanted to swith clips on my road bike and can't seem to get them off. They are really on there good. I've tried wd40 and they won't budge. Any tips?

Are you talking about toe clips, or handlebar clip-ons?

If it's toe clips, it might be easier for you to work if you take the pedals off and put them in a vise to hold them steady while you take the screws out. As a last resort you can drill the heads off the screws (being careful not to drill into the pedal).

If it's clip-ons, and you're using a hex key to try to get them off, try using an Allen socket with a long ratchet handle. You might even get an adapter to mate your sockets with a handle that takes the next-largest drive - just remember never to use that combination for installation, only removal, because you risk torquing them too tight. Or if you have a friend with an impact driver, you could ask to borrow that.
