I had never heard of it, but I learned it is something that you stick on the tongue of your shoe and it will help keep your heel in place in the shoe.

I use them occaisionally.
My forefeet are quite wide, but my hindfeet are not. So sometimes I pop a set of tongue pads into a shoe when everything fits except the heel.
I've also used pads on the upper heelstay, but really didn't like that at all.
Now that more shoe companies are realizing that they need to make larger and wider toeboxes available, I don't have to mess around with padding shoes here and there anymore.

Huh.
I pad the tongues of my shoes because otherwise the lacing irritates the flexor tendons.
I never knew there was an actual product for this purpose. What I've been using are actually the removable pads from a swimsuit top. Just the right size and shape... :o

Would those tongue pads work in a pair of Keen hiking shoes? I have a pair I have to wear really thick socks with because they irritate my metatarsals, other things about them make them good shoes for what I'm using them for which is work mostly.
