View Full Version : Finally a job offer!!
After almost a year of looking, I finally was offered a job as a nurse practitioner and just mailed in my signed contract today. I will be working on the hospitalist service (general inpatient medicine) of a community hospital in southern Maine. It will be a few months before I can start since there's a lot of paperwork that has to go through, but I am beyond excited right now! Now it's time to start looking at places to live up there...it seems like there's quite a bit to pick from and the rents are reasonable.

Congrats! and it sounds like not "just a job", but a good opportunity as well.

Which hospital did you get into?

Congrats. Just make sure you relax. Starting a new job is always stressful. I've found that a year or so ago the job market was really down/depressed, but over the last 12 months it's really improved, so good job!!
Wishing you luck!!

I'll be in Sanford, which is about 45 minutes south of Portland. It's near Wells, Kennebunk etc.

Too funny...I noticed your location and I was born in the Bay Area! I don't remember living there though b/c I was not even 3 when we moved to the East Coast.

Congrats. Jolt! Maine is a good state to get comfortable and for pursuing personal activities/passions too.
Best of luck!

It certainly will be a good state to live in...lots of outdoor activities (I will probably be able to bike to the beach in the summer! and of course there's plenty of hiking that's not too far away) and not so much traffic/crowds/stress (I am not particularly a big city person, and Sanford is a town of about 20,000 so it seems like a nice size and has pretty much everything one needs right in town). It will be tough moving and starting over but I am very happy with where I will be moving to, especially in comparison to some of the places I applied/interviewed (one was in New Haven CT--the hospital was really nice but that city is known for being a real armpit).
