I'm looking for a slightly used Pivot Mach 5 with an XS frame for my wife. Would prefer the XT build. Any body know of one they want to part with? I might also consider a small Ibis Mojo. :o

Has your wife ridden a DW link bike already? If not, see if you can find one for her as for whatever reason, I absolutely hate the ride of a DW link. I couldn't believe it. I rode my first one about three years ago at Interbike and thought the sag was set up wrong but nope, everything checked out fine. Weird. I currently ride a GF FS 29er and am building up a Jamis carbon hardtail 29er with XX or XO....

She currently rides a Santa Cruz VPP bike and loves it. She has ridden a friends Pivot and I also own a DW link Ibis and she feels like the DW climbs better than VPP. Don't get us wrong the VPP is pretty awesome also. The biggest challenge is building or finding bikes to fit her properly. She is 5' even. You mention that you are building a 29. How tall are you? I've thought about building her one since she is such a climber but worry about the size thing.

I'm 5'4" and hadn't thought about going two nine but then I rode one at a Trek demo and nearly whipped out my checkbook right then and there. I hadn't felt that way about any other bikes and I wasn't even looking to buy a new one. When I rolled into the parking lot that day, I was pretty content with my Trek WSD 6700.
I coach a ton of mtb clinics here in the Midwest and often get the "you're too small for a 29er" comment but I don't think I'll go back. The reason I'm building up the 29er carbon hardtail is because I do a lot of endurance 12 and 24 hour races and wanted something that would be a little bit more responsive.
At 5 foot, it's hard to tell. The feel of the cockpit or the stand over might be an issue. Remember, Willow Koerber is 5'2" and she can rock the 29er all day long!
