*sniff* Fave bib knicks have changed..

I had to discard a wonderful & comfy pair of Sugoi bib nicks a few weeks ago. Since I only had one pair I needed to get some ASAP. When i went to purchase some new Sugoi knicks, I noticed the fabric's now different & seems a bit tighter in the legs?? (Does that make sense?)

So..i'm on the TE site searching for a new pair of bib knicks & they have to be as good as the Sugoi ones. I am doing more long distance rides & want good stuff. I don't like short shorts.

Any suggestions or comments on these ones?

I have the PI drop-tail bibs and love them! I only have the one pair though, and my regular shorts are starting to look like cr*p, so am considering these (http://www.pearlizumi.com/publish/content/pi_2010/us/en/index/product_series/ride/women/p_r_o__series/shorts.-productCode-11211112.html). TE doesn't yet offer them...

The little chest strap is a non-issue. I am not aware that it even exists.

They are twice the price of my existing pair, but I've seen them at an LBS presentation a couple of months back of PI clothing for 2011 and was impressed by the material used in them. There is something in the material that helps reflect the sun, reduces the surface temperature of the cloth, and a few other features that would be quite nice in late July and August. I've not tried on their P.R.O. 4D chamois, but I do like their 3D chamois...

Why do they always change the good stuff?
Can't help with the Sugoi cc, but I have the same issue with Assos. The new model is half a size bigger and I don't like the chamois - expensive to find this out so I'm now looking for a new brand and wearing out others, which means wrong saddle height much of the time (rather than fiddling with it every other ride). Wish they'd just leave good stuff alone.

Catrin, how good are the drop tail bibs? I've been pondering getting some & want to know how easy they are to use.

I really like them a lot. No waist-band - which is very nice in the heat and I do not notice that I get any hotter in the heat with the little extra bib material. Once it gets to 90F and higher temps I don't think it matters - though I am really interested in the new material PI is using for their P.R.O. bibs. I wish the legs were an inch or 2 longer, but that doesn't matter.

As far as the drop-tail part, those are easy to use after the first time or two. I do find that I am more likely to stop and use the bushes with these more than regular shorts. To be honest I've never stepped behind a tree with regular shorts but I will with these so that helps. It did take me some time last year to get brave enough to do that...

It did take me a little time that first time to figure out how to use the drop-tail, but it likely comes easier to someone who has "nature" experience in this matter :cool:

I am thinking the new technical material in the more expensive new P.R.O. bibs might help with heat rash on my thighs - the material is said to be no hotter/hold no more heat than white fabric, and reflects the sunlight rather than absorbing.

Susan - are you going to carry the new P.R.O. PI bibs? They aren't inexpensive, but you carry other expensive bibs...I would love to support TE on this purchase.

I've sent a question to the TE store via the store site to ask them if they are planning on stocking these. I am going to get them and would love to get them from TE if possible.

The only bibs on their site that they do refer to as being droptails, are the regular Droptail w/Elite pad, the new PRO InRCool, and the Droptail Suit.

My mistake on the regular PRO women's bibshorts, thanks for catching that. The price is so close between the regular PRO bibs and the new In-R-Cool bibs that I wonder if they are planning on replacing them with the new bibs? I, at least, am willing to pay the extra $30 for a drop-tail and the new material...

I just bought a pair of the PRO shorts, but they are too large. I accidentally ordered the wrong size :eek: I felt that the chamois had too much bumpy padding. My faves are the Descente Strada bibshorts. I just bought a pair from Voler, the elite line, the price on sale was only $97.00. Tried them on and love them, will wear on a long ride this weekend and let you know how they felt. At that price, how can I go wrong??????:confused:
I am still on the hunt for the womens perfect bib short. I also have the droptail PI bib short and love them. I wear them on charity rides and then I dont take as long in the potties:D They also have a bit less padding and dont have the bumpy padding.
I guess when it comes down to it everyone has their own likes and dislikes.

IME, the Pearl chamois takes a few wash and wear cycles to "settle in". I really don't like them right out of the package, but after a few rides, they're my long-ride shorts. I prefer something lighter/thinner for shorter rides.

I have those Voler Elites too....very nice chamois. I wish they'd make the inner thigh seamless though....then they'd be in the running for long-ride shorts. I keep hoping!

At the LBS yesterday I found the PI Elite drop-tail bibs are now made from the In-R-Cool fabric and the grippers are wider. Since I KNOW that I can work with the 3D chamois, I decided that the extra expense of the P.R.O. drop-tail In-R-Cool bibs wasn't necessary.

I had also spoken with TE staff and they told me they aren't carrying the P.R.O. drop-tail In-R-Cool bibs because they do not like the regular In-R-Cool P.R.O. shorts - apparently the legs are too tight where they grip the thighs.
