Hi everyone, I have started cycling again after an injury.
I fell and broke my arm about a year ago and had a long recovery time. I am still newer to this sport. (I have a road bike)
I have been doing 2 rides weekly from between 21-32 miles each time, and
I have noticed with each ride, my upper body is really fatigued. My arms, neck, shoulders, wrists and hands are killing me, and my fingers are falling asleep and staying numb for at least 30 minutes after I am off the bike.
My question: Is this normal for starting out again? Or does it sound like I need another bike fit?
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Kiersten

It sounds like you need a bike fit. It's normal to be a little sore after the first couple rides, but not like that. And the numb fingers on rides of that length are definitely not normal and are concerning.

Hope you can figure out what is wrong and that your bike can be tweaked to work better for you. I never have any pain once I'm off my bike, and I'm only doing short rides a couple of times of a week this time of year myself.

+1 on the hands. Numb hands are a concern. It could be your conditioning (time off the bike) and putting too much weight forward on the hands, but it's hard to defiantly say that without seeing you ride. I'd go to your lbs and ask. I know the staff at my shop can watch someone ride for a few minutes and start honing the fit.

Thanks,
I think I will schedule a bike fit and go from there.
